We come in at 172.

That's last in the SEC, 73 spots behind South Carolina.

By my quick count there are only six major conference schools ranked behind us (Ga Tech, Utah, DePaul, Rutgers, Oregon, and Maryland).

Our only three wins are Quad 4 wins, so basically worthless.

I guess Jans is using his mulligan this year.

I've watched every game. This team is awful and completely un-Janslike. We do have the normal complete crap offensive sets you expect from Jans, but we've also paired that with being awful on defense too

I'm not saying we're any good, but NET rankings this early in the season are worthless. They don't really start to mean anything until conference play starts.

At a 50K foot level, here is a summary- The more Jans loses that he inherited, the worse we get. Gone are Tolu, Murph and Cam. All that’s left is Hub (inherited gift from OM). And all you have to do is watch the end of the SMU game To understand some people’s concern with our offense.

We are as ineffectual at the 4/5 positions as I've ever seen an MSU team.
We are slightly ok with just Ballard out there. But Ballard plus Achor is 2 wasted spots. If you throw in Jones plus those 2 it is a black hole of wasted minutes.

We need to roll with the 3 guards, Fleming and Ballard. Euro needs to be the first off the bench and then you rotate in Jones, Ali, and Walker to help keep the bigs fresh. None of those 3 plus Grace and Delquan should ever log double digit minutes.

Ballard is a miss and will show that as the season goes on, he plays soft. McGhee may be something but overall I think he missed on the portal this year. There isn't a bit of Matthews in any of them and we need that to plan jans style of ball.

Yeah, so
Epps
Hubb
McGhee
JDF
Ballard (ffs Ballard, please grow a pair)

I agree with you, but that's going pretty small. Ali, Jones, Macura, Walker, and I guess Warren off the bench. Not sure what else you can do at this point unless you want to give Grace some minutes for next year. Is Bartlett just not an option at all?

But if your net ranking is bad against the weak teams on your schedule that beat you, then..............

Jefferies is one of the best defenders I've ever seen in college basketball. He could guard 1-4 and dominate. He totally shut down knecht and that punk baker mazara. Yeh, I miss him.
Yeah, but silly me, I thought we'd keep getting the defensive effort from everyone going forward, but also add some who can play offense.

Like I said, silly me.

We played decent against SMU but looked lost in the last 2 minutes of regulation and even more pitiful in overtime.

We are the most "stand and watch" offense I've ever seen.

Remember a couple seasons ago when so many on SPS were happy Tolu Smith's eligibility was over and claimed we would have been a better team without him? Remember how many people cried about how soft he was, how he didnt dunk enough, how his FT shooting was bad(it was), etc?

Man, I would take a Tolu player for this year's team every single time they were offered. Kinda seems like a no brainer since 2x 1st Team SEC selection, but that wasnt appreciated by a lot of active posters on here.
How are those people not losing their shit right now with our current post players?!

Shawn Jones was never meant to be a guy that ever got starting minutes, decent role player and nothing more.
I’ve said the same thing. The fact that Jones starts and plays major minutes just shows how bad this team actually is. Our portal haul was pretty much a bust

It sucks that 7 games in it already feels like we're playing for next year. It also sucks that we're wasting Josh Hubbard's junior year. Ballard shows flashes on offense but he is slooooooooow. He's going to get eaten for breakfast by SEC bigs. This team sorely misses KeShawn Murphy.

I would start Hubbard, Epps, Jones, Davis-Fleming, and Ballard (I guess).

Bench rotation should be McGhee, Macura, Ali, and Brandon Walker. If Amir Ali can score with some consistency, he should switch to be the starter at 3. I'd love to see Tee Barlett hit the floor and see what he's got.

With all respect to him, Warren should have transferred, he appears overmatched. King Grace should probably redshirt with Bartlett, Paul, and Chol.
