I was in the band in the 00s and we wore polos during the hot games. Its been that way for decades at MSU and at almost every marching band in the country, including the service academies.

There are a few bands that never do, and that's fine, but last week several posters insisted that specific bands never do until I posted photos that proved otherwise.
Almost every band in the SEC wears a full uniform every week because it’s part of the pageantry of college football. Our band looks like sh*t wearing mismatched shorts and polos when literally every team we have played this year that brings a band will be wearing their full uniform. LSU has a 66 year old man wearing a full uniform in South Louisiana. This isn’t a big deal, but people actually defending something that is so obviously a call out of complete laziness within that department is the reason it keeps being said. When something is obvious, no matter how small it is people are going to keep talking about it if they keep getting bullsh*t as to why the small thing doesn’t get done. It’s just the principle of knowing someone is full of sh*t and talking to you with that full of sh*t directly to your face as if you are too stupid to know they are full of sh*t.

Wearing shorts and a golf shirt for half the games is bush league. It is, might as well call it like we see it.

Alcorn band was pretty awesome though.

Your initial comment was dumb.
You followed it up with an observation that is incorrect.
And after your inconsistency was pointed out, all you can post is a face palm.

Can we be done now? None of this needed to happen.

You have no fuсking clue what you're talking about, and you're just humiliating yourself. I posted pictures of several marching bands last week marching in polos or even T-shirts.

You didn't post several pictures of schools in the SEC in that outfit. When you are in this league, every little thing should be done to standard, no matter how small the detail. The only reason this won't go away is because people like you keep trying to piss down everyone's leg and tell them it's raining on a very small issue that should be fixable with no pushback but because it has the slightest inconvenience to someone they would rather make 75 excuses as to why it doesn't get done. Just like the field paint. Just like the trash in the stadium. Just like the tv's not working in the club level for an entire year. Just like the LED lights. Just like the speakers. Just like the uniforms and logos. It's all little stuff that some morons say "WhY dO YoU cArE ?!?!" and none of them have ever been in charge of sh*t because if they had been they would know the big sh*t doesn't get done correctly if the small sh*t doesn't get done correctly. Just put forth the effort our competitors do in every way. Stop cutting corners. It's not that 17ing hard.

Like I said in a previous post. Just play The Horse and Hang on Snoopy. I could careless if they wore nothing......well some of them need to wear something like all the men and some of the females. Maybe then the faculty would stop selling the tickets to other team fans.

OOOH I WANT TO HEAR A MARCHING BAND VERSION OF FAMILY TRADITION
I mean… that was from “Dinosaur”, but yes, “Family Tradition” would be a fun one. It would really sell the ‘rustic’ vibe for which our fanbase is apparently widely known.

Next week the US News rankings will come out and we will be last in the SEC and one of the bottom five in the Power 4 conferences nationally.

Many on this board will say things like "These rankings don't matter" and "Peer review is unfair." but its more of the same. Our fanbase is conditioned to accept mediocrity.
And we are completely aware that you don’t. Loud and clear.

I'm not a fan of Obama but lets not put him in the same category as that guy who was assaulted in MAGA country by two Nigerian white supremacists!!!
Just for clarity and possibly to help shorten this discussion - you thought that guy in the clip was (in my Dave Chappelle voice) Juicy Smulliet', but the GIF of the guy saying "GOOD" is Donald Glover (comedian and played Troy on 'Community'). I can see why you thought that, but you two guys were talking past each other so I thought this info would help.

I can't believe this has gotten 3 pages so far, but these are my thoughts.

I was in the FMB during the ‘91 Texas game. We had band members falling out during the pregame show as we waited for the team to run out of the locker room.

All y'all bitching need to STFU. It didn’t impact me but watching 80 pound young ladies with heat stroke isn’t fun.

Y'all are confusing father and son.

Kaw-Liga. There's a Tear in my Beer. Your Cheatin' Heart.

That'll really put some pep in our step for the second half.**

This is not the best board to complain about the band or gameday atmosphere. The majority of the posters on here, who make the most noise, rarely attend sporting events or care about MSU being a winner. 99% of SPS posters have sh i t all over Selmon and Lebby for two years.

The band needs to act like a SEC band and elevate themselves. Having a good, professional SEC band just takes effort and coordination. Whoever runs the band the last 10-15 years has become lazy AF
I agree with the second half of this. Anything that you are going to be good at takes effort and planning. It really does not matter what the subject is to be good at something takes effort and intentional thought. If I am hearing anything about the band as someone that could care less what the band does or does not do, then it means there is an issue. I would assume our current band director is making more money than the average joe. So, the fix is simple get rid of the lazy band director, and find someone that will put in more effort. No offense to the guy or girl for anyone that has a personal connection, but when people become lazy and ineffective at their job then you let them go. Simple.
