As a rule, State performs better when expectations are low. That being said the schedule is just brutal. I would personally view 6-6 a good season. And should we see 7 or more wins we have overachieved and it sets up 2014 to be one of Mullen's best years.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse here, but it was my understanding from the attitudes on this board, just a few months ago, that schedule strength did not matter, only wins and losses.

This is my opinion. Not sure what the 'boards' opinion is. Who is on your schedule matters.

Edit:to clarify I am talking about adding Ok State and getting South Carolina for Ut. Wins and losses are ultimately what matter but the schedule has a large impact on those wins and losses. Not sure I am talking about what you are or not.

Exactly. Wins and losses are all that matters. That's why a lot of us aren't completely happy with playing OSU in a year our rotating team from the East is one of the top teams in that division (South Carolina). This game would have made a lot more sense last year.

No sense focusing on the negative. We play in Reliant stadium on national tv against a very strong opponent. I'll be fired up for this one and I'm viewing it as a bowl game. A very nice bowl game. We all would be very happy if we are playing Ok State as our last game of the year in Texas as that would probably mean it's the Cotton Bowl. So let's treat it like it's the Cotton Bowl and hell we might just surprise ourselves. Pretty sure UOM was ecstatic to be playing Texas last year so why can't MSU fans be excited for this game too? No doom and gloom here from me.

I don't necessarily like playing OK State like this -- but it certainly gives us a chance to have a monumental change in perception in week 1.

Win that one and play how we are capable and we are right back where we need to be -- and the majority of the fickle fans are back in the boat -- and we're "overlooked" by no one.

Bingo, its ALL about the wins. That is why with the current grind of the SEC schedule the only sensible thing to do is to keep the OOC schedule filled with teams you SHOULD beat. Playing OK State was a mistake for us in my view other than the 2.5 million dollars we'll get and I really don't know why you guys scheduled Texas just for a home and home deal.
