OK, I'll bite. A WVU fan, or a fan of any team, supports that team when it's losing, but isn't blind to its weaknesses. I'm in Mountaineer Field for every game, regardless of the opponent or WVU's season record. I hope WVU goes 12-0 and wins the national title every year, even though that's never happened. My home is filled with WV items, in every room of the house, on my JO 4 WVU Ohio license plate, on the WV flag hanging above my garage door. I donat far more to the MAC than the minimum required to get good season tickets. I wear "WV" clothing nearly everywhere I go, and have people come up to me and talk about the Mountaineers, from Thailand to Egypt to Norway, often because they, too, are West Virginians. My children buy me birthday, Father's Day and Christmas presents with "WV" on them. My golf clubs have "WV" covers for the woods. I bleed WVU blue and gold. And I put my money where my mouth is. But I also express my doubts when Dana has the team 18-20 for three years. My 13 years of being paid to cover sports won't let me follow WVU blindly. Just enthusiastically.
