is not going to visit us this weekend. He is suppose to sign with Houston today. I guess Ray decided not to offer him.

No inside knowledge here, but if we didn't offer him, surely it means we feel good about a better player.

One thing I do like about the idea of jucos though is that it would help us balance out the classes. It's looking like we'll have possibly a 6 or 7 man freshmen class this year, which hurts our balance going forward.

Place to go to. That was another school whooing him. I don't really know what that means to us but a little useless info never hurts.

I'm a little torn on the scholarship issue this year. Unless we hit on a diamond in the rough we're not going to get much that would be a 4-year contributor if we recruit well. We need a few guys just to complete a team but we want to be able to use PT as a big selling point next year to recruits.

if we get the freshman PG from CA I'd call it a day there - let the two freshman battle it out and if don't think one is going to cut it, let him go.

I think we need to sign a HS PG, and a PF/C type and call it a day unless someone gets a late release from a LOI or is a transfer. Then let's just hit it hard next year looking for a stud SF and a C and maybe a PG

is that most of the schools have already maxed out how many players they can sign for this class. Although there's a much limited pool of players to choose from MSU has to be one of the best options available for those that haven't signed yet. We have 4 open spots. There's plenty of quality players still out there to fill those spots. By waiting till next year we open up the other 250 or so schools that are maxed out right now as competition. So yea there's more players but there's also many more teams needing players. I say sign all 4 spots before August.

Kind of funny to me if he goes to Kansas State and plays for Bruce Weber who just left Illinois in just as bad a shape as us. Well close to us anyway

We need to really focus on selling the program to a couple of transfers - take our lumps next year and see what Ray can do. One positive for him is that he gets to totally build a roster of "his" guys much faster than other programs.

That's about the only positive in this mess though.

I think we're going to be average, but not terrible with where we're at next year. As a State fan Ive become accustomed to winning 19 games, so anything less is going to suck, but here is what we have: Steele who can go toe-to-toe with anyone behind the arc and in Ray's motion offense that's going to be gold, a poor man's Pollard in Sword who some of you like even more, a quality PF/C in Ware, and a guy who has to sit out for our non-conference games and might be one of the top scorers in the league after that in Kristers. We're going to lose all of our non-cons but I think we beat the Georgia's we couldn't beat this year. This team, believe it or not, is more talented than the 2011 Dogs that featured such wonders as Augustus... They just don't have the experience. Steele > Johnson.

Ravern is a better shooter than Steele although it's close. Augustus is miles better than Lewis. Bost is bajillion times better than nobody. 2011 Dawgs are way better than this club right now. We'll see after Ray signs some folks.

Augustus was a warm body that we put on the floor because there wasn't anyone behind him worth putting on the floor, and he had points. But he was a hack who did more bad off the court than good on the court. He was a cancer. Lewis is more of the same, but I wasn't referring to Lewis. I don't know how Ware will fair in college but I'll already take him over Augustus. Ravern and Steele are interchangeable but Steele can actually play defense. Bost made everyone around him score, even douchebags like Augustus, but he himself had more 8 point games than not. On paper we can match him. But Steele, Sword, and whoever are going to have to step up. Instead of a go-to assisted two in the lane someone is going to have to pull up a jumper. This team is a Barry Sewart from being just as good or better.

The SEC was easier then and we didn't have Baylor on our schedule and we only won 19 games. The 2013 team won't win 19 games but they'll show more skill and talent than that team.

are the 6th and 7th men from this last years team. We are not returning a single starter or a single PG. Your argument ends there. As of right now our PG is a scrub that was thrown in the deal just to land Gray who then ditched us on his agreement. We have no PG. That's kinda an important position for a basketball team to have.
