I think feeling like you need to show a 14yo girl lip locking another minor girl then suggestively asking "what do we do now" in a post-apocalyptic universe says a lot more about "woke" culture than me.

How about not sexualizing children, for starters?

I saw an interview afterwards with the freak behind the show and he lisped with delight at that kissing scene. Hollywood is sick and out of touch. They need to be cleaned out and fired in mass as they've reached the point of infestation.

How about movies, TV, shows, sports, entertainment options in general without the politics, messages, tributes, bringing attention to, honoring, in memoriams...

I don't need my attention to be brought to anything else. I'm all out of it. Sick of being pandered to and preached at. Entertain me not indoctrinate me. That's what TF it is supposed to be.
Really don't think it has to be this deep. If you don't like something, don't watch. There's plenty of content out there for everyone

Pretty touching episode and some needed background for Ellie. Great ep.

Some of you pussbois need to grow up already.

I wonder if you would feel the same if it were a 17 year old boy doing the same with a 13 year old girl. Or is it OK, since it's lgbtqiatuvxyz?

You cool with some senior in high school hitting on your eighth grade daughter? Cause those were the ages presented.

Because the series is actually based on it? I've said this in this thread before. If they made a movie or series after a book that was iconic, wouldn't you have an issue with removing parts of a story just to focus on some gay romance that was barely in the source material? Episode 3 was basically pointless to the plot of the story and just added in.

Yeah, no fans got upset with huge major changes from the source material in game of thrones, show vs book.

Nope. Not at all. Not a single one, VH.

Nobody got pissed at rings of power either. Oh wait...

Some people make posts merely to be contrary and assh*les.

Van Halen is one of the absolute worst for that. Literally argues against his own posts from a couple of days prior, just to be obstinate.

So two kids growing up in a post-apocalyptic world with death, destruction, and despair all around them, with one girl who is running away to avoid a life guarding people literally shoveling **** all day every day, on a night that is the last time either one of them will either see each other ever again, for the rest of their miserable lives in this zombie fuckyouuniverse, share a simple kiss and you're going full on Fox News pedophilia, dirka derr they're grooming our children mode? Get a life.

I hope the season finale is just two gay zombies literally f'ing their brains out and maybe your head will explode.

Dude, if you don't see an issue, that's on you. I'm pointing out that if it was a 17 year old boy with the same scenario, everyone 'woke', like you, would have made noise, but since its 2 females, they didn't.

And in 1980's movies like 16 candles it absolutely was portrayed that way, and today's wokesters screech about it.

We didn't care then, don't care now. Just pointing out your hypocrisy if it fits the agenda. That's it.

Good show, minus the silly stuff. Great acting, etc.

A couple of you gotta chill with the pretend pearl clutching. I could give you a list of films from the 70s that went a lot further sexually and were much more provocative than a same-sex kiss or same-sex relationship in 2023. I could give you a list of celebrities from decades earlier who continue to be worshipped even though they were involved with minors. If you're disgusted, write a letter to HBO, cancel Max, or just stop watching. Maybe then this thread will be more focused on the show and not a few here continually acting like 12 year olds and pretending to be grossed out. No one here wants to read pages of ew gays, gay jokes, and the tired woke complaints. I'm all for valid criticism and can understand if it's not exactly like the game you once played, but this thread continues to be derailed by a few who just want to push their own agenda/worldview. No one is making you watch the show. I mean, am I going to need to just keep making a variation of this same post every couple weeks? Please let it go or just stop watching. Good lord, aren't any of you tired of just saying the same **** over and over?

Great post. And no, these dudes won't ever get tired of saying the same **** over, and over, and over again. The political thread has 566K dumbass posts and counting, not including all the topics it spills over into, which is basically 90% of the topics here. It's an echo chamber of superficial, intellectually degraded rightland vs. leftland hyper-reactionary ******** with little to no critical thinking or nuance.

It was a f'n kiss from two characters in some post-apocalyptic hellscape fantasy universe TV show who were never going to see each other again. And dudes who live in the political thread run here with their immediate thought of "Well, what if that was your daughter in 8th grade and it was some creepo older teen." I don't know, do they have eighth grade in post-apocalyptic fantasy zombie universe world? And they don't have that reaction if it's The Goonies and the older girl is kissing the younger boy. Because that is safe and reminds them of their childhoods. But they have that reaction because it's a lesbian kiss and they're anti-gay. It's just stupid. And they'll never change.

Ok....Dr. Phil. Basically the entire episode was about two teen age girls expressing their feelings for each other and ending with a kiss. How silly of me to suggest a homo relationship.
How about platonic till you have more? As is, that's it. Why suggest it at all?

Again, not minding the scene, not them kissing, so much as I minded the fact that it was ham handedly done, and after 2 minutes we all knew where it was going, so why spend the entire episode on their date in the mall basically?

And as far as it goes, why was episode 3 devoted to 2 characters that are only pretty much going to be in that episode, absent some flashbacks, (who cares if they're gay) and no backstory on perhaps Joel and his lady. You know, since he's like the actual main character and all. Ellie getting more backstory is fine, but it could have been better.

And, yes, I loathe the 'woke'. Sue me. Lol.

Dexter went completely off the rails. Another show that should have ended early was True Blood. It was hilarious the first couple or three seasons before tailing off badly.

I stopped watching when the fairies revealed to Sookie she was one of them. Serious WTF moment.

I’m loving the Last of Us and somewhat amused by the homophobes freaking out.

Amazing what a messed up world this is thanks to these woke freaks.
It was a kiss between two ADULT actors. This wasn’t some Brooke Shields Blue Lagoon moment that was actually horrible. Maybe try being able to make the distinction that these aren’t actually children.

Ellie (Ashley Johnson) is a fourteen-year-old orphan and the other main playable character in the game, and one of the few characters to have never known life before the infection.

Try using your excuse when a 29 year old dude playing a 14 year old boy asks you in for some brownies in the kitchen.

Ellie is a FAKE person. She is a character that is made up. She does not exist in real life. Do you get the picture here? Adults actors have been playing teenagers for quite a long time, this isn’t some new concept. Don’t understand the sudden outrage about it now when we’ve seen movies like American Pie that are entirely based around teenagers losing their virginities with all of the main characters being played by adults.

Yes. You are projecting out to people a character that is 14 years old kissing a 17 year old then suggestively asking "What do we do next?"

How old are the actors pretending to be children that are catching all the pedos? You think your argument holds up in court? Better clean out your MacBook and stay away from being invited in for cookies.

The key word that you just used right there is "character." That is my exact point, these are characters from a TV show. I can't express enough that they aren't real people. If this was a reality show and they were actually 14 and 17 then that would be abhorrent, the show should be cancelled, and some people should go to jail. But it isn't, so since it isn't then maybe we shouldn't think that we are condoning sexualizing children and just make the connection that these are adults who are just playing their roles.

If a 19 year old boy playing a 14 year old boy calls you on the phone and tells you he's 14 and you show up to his house for a cookies and milk smooch on the lips and "whatever comes next," then the Catch a Predator camera crew comes out rolling, what happens to you?

Does the judge say "Well he was really 19 so you're free to go" or do they go by the age that they were pretending to be?

Why would it be "abhorrent" if a 17 year old kissed a 14 year old in a tv show? I don't think anyone blinks an eye if that happens in the litany of tv shows and movies that are about teenagers "coming of age". The thing that riles people up on this board is that it is same sex. A number of the posters here are nuts and would probably criminalize homosexuality if they could. They certainly want it behind closed doors because to show two girls kissing is "grooming".

Again, that is a real life situation. To Catch a Predator was a reality show, the exact example I gave in my last response. The Last of Us is fake

I just want to see a show about a post apocalyptic zombie world. I don't need all this extra fluff. "But it's in the game!". I'm sure it is, but you can control game pace with side missions and whatnot. This is what, two of seven episodes of stuff the majority of the population don't want to see? Great acting and cinematography in this one, but a post apocalyptic zombie world show this is not. That's a damn shame, too, as I thought this show had the goods in spades. It reeks of desperation now, but I'll continue to watch.

So you agree that in real life they go to jail even if it was pretending?

That's what this is all about, anyway. Modelling this behavior for children. Never mind that in a child's life it is stressing enough to learn about the opposite sex and how to approach them. Instead tell them "hey, you know how comfortable you are with your friends? Well turns out you don't have to mess with those pesky girls after all you can just bang your best friend Ralph!"

Here's an idea: LEAVE CHILDREN ALONE AND LET THEM GROW UP!

The right to marry and pursue life and liberty for gays was not enough. I fully supported that. But they immediately pivoted to targeting kids with their ceaseless propaganda like some army recruiter and that pisses me off.

The kissing wouldn't be the abhorrent part for me. When I said abhorrent that was in reference to if an ACTUAL 14 year said "what should we do next" in a sexual tone to an ACTUAL 17 year old, that would weird me out. I probably should've been more clear on that. I agree with you on homophobic anger in this thread though, still baffles me how people can't be comfortable enough with themselves that they're intimidated at the thought of gay people existing.

If someone intends to meet up with what they think to be a child and wants to have sex with them then yes, they should go to jail. That is not the same as watching actors WHO YOU KNOW ARE ADULTS portray teenagers in a show. Some people put gay characters in some shows and suddenly it's propaganda for the gay community, give me a break. And if we're talking about this show in particular, it's rated MA so it's not supposed to be watched by children anyway.

Uh actually it was basically word for word of the game dealing with ellie's back story about getting bit... so yeah it absolutely moved the plot onward. Hence why I wasn't flipping out like marleydogg. If it actually sticks to the story(that's the point of calling it "the last of us") then it's fine. Ellie being gay or bi is fine. I hope they actually pay it off next week of how that friendship/relationship has to end with ellie being the only immune one.

Episode 3 was a big outlier. It sacrificed plot development for 2 men to have a romantic Romeo and juliet story. You could take most of that episode out and not miss a beat with the overarching story. If it was done closer to the game, or half of the episode devoted to the relationship and half the interactions between Bill, ellie, and Joel, nobody would care.

They should have more infected, I agree. Episode 3 was fluff for sure. This one showed ellie getting bit, but they didn't show the aftermath. Hopefully next Episode will clarify that more.

The acting is superb and the writing too.

The mall was where that happened game wise so I understand that part. Episode 3... yep. Bill was the major character and had interactions with Joel and ellie. They got rid of all of that. Why? To expand a character never actually seen in the story. I hate changing a character or story for no real reason. But they have to be woke in every show now.

Do you think kids don’t kiss or fool around or even gasp have sex underage? Children have been hooking up for millennia.

Why do you think it can’t be put on an R Rated tv show on a pay for streaming channel?

Good points, and I never played the game, nor know the underlying plot lines going in. Just seemed a bit much after episode 3, like an agenda being pushed.

Excellent show, though, for the most part.

The show is fine, definitely a lot better pacing than TWD which is needed for me to maintain interest. The one thing that I’m pretty amazed by, seeing as how Halo was the last shooting game I ever played back in college, but how damn involved are video games now? Like WTF. All these plot lines and **** were in a VIDEO GAME?? That’s mind blowing to me.
