I wonder how much time elapsed from the time he first caught it, to the time he fell in the endzone, and then the ball finally touches the ground after he had obviously finished catching it.I think you could get at least a few"One Mississippi's" ticked off from the start to finish of that sequence. You don't see many calls that bad that don't take place at DWS.
Just watched the replay.
That's one of the worst NFL calls I've ever seen. He had 2 feet in bounds, 1 butt in bounds, and 1 elbow in bounds.... yet it was ruled incomplete since after palming the ball, he released it once it hit the ground (after the rest of him).
The NFL officials on the field who changed the ruling (not the first guy, who signaled TD) should be banned. And chicago should get a loss.

The NFL apparently likes having rediculous rules regarding fumbles and incomplete passes (see tuck rule). The receiver basically has to catch the ball, fall down and get back up still holding the ball for it to be a completed pass. I think it's an incredibly stupid rule, but a rule it is, and the referee interpreted the rule correctly. For crying out loud, even the Lions coach said it was the correct call. That rule really needs to be changed, however.
I got no problem with you not liking the rule and wanting it changed but to be angry at an official for calling the game as it was written is just wrong.
I don't buy that you didn't know that it was the rule because they stated how the rule worked about fifty times before it was confirmed in the replay booth. No way did you not hear the explanation. Unless you really just don't have the ability to comprehend what was being said or you turn the sound off while you watch games or you just didn't listen. They have very clearly explained the rule about 1,000 times by now. I sure hope you understand that it was the correct call by now.
