Add: having Mike Rice blow up when Rick Pitino's in the national championship game.

Can't script it better.

Not only do they have a laundry list of very wealthy alumni, they have an endowment nearly twice the amount of ours. They have people like "papa john" that will nearly pay for an entirely new football stadium. They are located in an area that can supply them with pretty good talent and fan support.

Also of note: Its pretty amazing that they have moved from Conference USA to the Big East to the ACC in a span of 10 years. I think that's pretty remarkable considering that their student population is not that large. (22k)

Petrino's horse ain't doing too shabby either. I think I heard he had won over 1 Million in prize money and would be in the KY Derby.

Their endowment is well over double ours. That really doesn't tell the whole story though IMO in comparison terms...

UL(2001, 2012) - #87 @ $503 million, #100 @ $726 million
OM(2001, 2012) - #130 @ $320 million, #156 @ $451 million
MSU(2001, 2012) - #237 @ $144 million, #189 @ $343 million

Our growth over the past decade in terms of percentages has been astounding really. It doesn't get talked about nearly enough...

If you assumed the same growth rates over the next 11 years, we'll be worth $817mil in comparison to Louisville @ $1.048 billion and OM @ $635mil...

The announcers said Pitino was "part owner" of the horse ... not sure what percentage he has though. Could be very little, could be a majority share.
