make the layup in Game 2, and make FT's in Game 4...instead of up 3-1, about to be down 3-1

I believe Superman would have made more than 6 out of 14 free throws and not choked at the line in the final seconds.

They set an NBA record for shooting percentage in game 3 and can only win by 4. They are clearly outmatched. If the Lakers shot 62 percent in a game, they'd win by 30.

If Kobe had made free throws in game 3, this series would be over.

Hanmu, as the seemingly lone Lakers fan on the board, you must be pumped

I guess I hadn't noticed. I wonder if fellow Vicksburger Bonedaddy is a Lakers fan as well, or just a Jack Nicholson fan?

Hell, if the Great ****** had simply made a couple of chip shot field goals, we'd have gone to a bowl game last season and Crxxm would still be our coach. And HD6, I claim the title of original Lakers fan on this board. I used to stay up late to watch their games on the weekends back when Magic Johnson was still in college.

from 1979 until they traded Shaq...cant stand Kobe

I understand the Magic have to make the plays to become champs- and thus why I said they have given it away....59% from the line tonight is inexcuseable...

was a huge Celtics fan. I think she legitimately loved Bird more than her grandchildren. As I started watching basketball, I picked up the Lakers, loved Magic, loved Showtime and the fast break.

Before anyone throws out the term "bandwagon", I stuck through the Magic gets AIDS so we're going with Sedale Threatt and Terry Teagle as our best options era.

not that I have any big preference in this series one way or the other. Fact is, the Magic had every chance to make the series 2-2 and give us a great finals to continue to look forward to seeing. Instead, with the Lakers up 3-1 and still with two more home games (if needed) the series is over and the Magic are now the proverbial "dead man walking". Sportswise, its time to watch game 7 of the NHL finals and then focus on the CWS.

I was trying to put the Threatt/Teagle days out of my memory and you had to bring it up. Also, I have a great sense of relief knowing that Coach is no longer a Laker fan and hates Kobe because there is "zero" chance the Lakers don't win the title now.

The biggest thing is that in the last series he played the "coach has to get me the ball in crunchtime" card with the media - then he misses two free throws in the final seconds along with numerous 3 ft shots in the 4Q. I'd love some stat service to show me what his FG% is when you exclude dunks. He reminds me of Marcus Cambpell a little bit. He brings the ball down and makes himself small constantly and has zero true post moves, with no touch on his shots. And he's a poor passer out of the post. He's just a physical beast and that covers a ton of technical flaws. The Lakers are the more talented team, especially when Odom comes to play, but the Magic have made it a good series and could indeed be up 3-1.

although he has a ways to go still. He has a nice jumphook with both hands but you're right.. he makes himself smaller bc he always puts the ball on the floor. Make one FT and the series is tied.. instead he bricked 3 of his last 4 and they go down 3-1.

...back in the day of Magic, Kareem, Worthy, and co. But now, not so much. I can not stand that egg headed bastard Bryant.

and that "layup" was a lot harder than it looked. I heard several pro players on ESPN radio say just that.

EXACTLY! Ive been sayin that to people this whole week whenever they say he blew the layup. Blew the layup?!?! He caught it in midair, controlled it, and almost made it while his head and half his body was already crossing under the backboard!! That **** isnt a blown layup, its an awesome attempt at finishing an incredible inbounds play.
