I think the modern record is 23 by the 1961 Philadelphia Phillies. They have one more game vs the Yankees, and then play the Rays for three games in Seattle. Then they play Oakland in Seattle. They have a chance to pull it off.

track. Maybe not 17 games, but I get sick of seeing Hudson, Hanson, and Beachey giving up 2 and 3 runs in the first 2 innings. The Braves just don't have the depth of hitting to play through that. They do ok getting a run every now and then, or McCann, Gonzales, or Chipper will rip a solo HR, but they don't have the hitting to give up that many runs to start games. <div>
</div><div>But to reply to your comment, it must really suck to be a Mariners fan right now. They have a nasty schedule in front of them. </div>

Hell, if it wasn't for the rain delay CC could have gotten that no hitter tonight. Dude took a perfect game into the 7th with a rain delay

I like Wedge though, and hope he is given the chance to get things going there

Ichiro is only hitting .266 and he is 36. Dustin Ackley looks like a good player, of course he is a rookie. After that? They've got nothing. Miguel Olivo was hitting fourth for them for goodness sakes. And he's hitting .217. Chone Figgins is hitting .190, Brenden Ryan and Andy Kennedy are Cardinals retreads. Franklin Gutierrez and Jack Cust are all AAAA players.

They actually have some pretty good starting pitching though- for a crappy team.

I think Wedge will get a fair shot though. He can't be blamed for having nothing to work with, and the Mariners have had a carousel of managers the past few years. They need to stick with someone for at least a few years.

with Felix going vs Phil today, they have their best chance. Unfortunately, Phil's velocity has dropped back down. It's already 2-0 B5.
