Commanders is fine. Nobody cares. “97% of you (my followers who all agree with me politically) agreed with me when I asked this leading question, so clearly this is common sense in our echo chamber”

As someone who lives in the DMV, I assure that Skins fans are NOT “fine” with “Commanders” and i also assure you they “care” immensely.
Soooooooo wrong again chief.

with that said, doubtful the name will ever being changed back to Redskins. Getting permits and approval to built a new stadium within city limits (at the old RFK site) was contingent on them changing the name.

Cool. As a normal adult it doesn’t mean anything if a sports team wants to change their name, regardless of the reason

just one person's perspective, but I would hope the federal government would have better things to do that get involved in the name of a football team.
Government already controls enough of our lives

Agree. But politics originally changed the name, so let’s change it back.

“Political Figures: In 2013, President Barack Obama commented that if he were the team owner and the name offended a sizable group, he would consider changing it. In 2014, 50 U.S. Senators, led by Maria Cantwell and Tom Cole, signed a letter urging the NFL to support a name change. D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser in 2020 stated the team needed to change its name”

yea, but 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Now, if the owners wanted to change the name back, that would be fine. Look at all the new revenues that would be generated from sales of redskins merchandise. I'd bet it would be substantially more that the $40 million CBS loses each year on Colbert

What happened to keeping politics out of sports? Where are the shut up and dribble people on this?
On this we agree.

but serious question … the land is city land and the funding is 80% private 20% city via city taxes, I don’t see how Trump would have standing to cancel the deal. I dunno ..🤷‍♂️

Commanders is an awful name and not a single one of my Skins fan friends like it. I understand changing the name, but the Commanders is just awful … there were some really good options when they were selecting a new name like Red Hogs or the Red Tails, both would’ve been great.

I was also wondering how the President could block a city/stadium deal Lol. Trump just saying things that have no actual meaning? Never.

Commanders as a name does suck. Red Hawgs would have been great

I agree. let's all agree to a mulligan and return to the redskins and Indians before politics were in sports.

BTW, you can't dribble a football or a baseball. The Tim Walz moderates on the left know this.

Why does the president of the united states take time out of his day to wage a culture war that no one really wants to talk about.

Alright, that sounds reasonable to me...IF EVERYONE is on board with this, then why don't we ask the Native American folks about it and let THEM decide, no questions asked. If they want to change it back, no problem. If they don't want to change it back, no problem.

Take the way FSU handled it when they were under pressure to change their name. They went to the Seminole Tribe and asked what they wanted to do. The tribe wanted the University to keep the name and FSU told everyone to suck it. That's great. On the other hand, our local HS was named the Indians. They did the same thing with the local Shoshone/Bannock tribe. Overwhelmingly the tribe did NOT want the local HS to keep the name. So they changed the name. That's great.

Same deal here. Let the very folks that are being "disrespected", decide if they are being disrespected. And then let what they think should be done, be done.

Mostly agree, there is a difference between using the name of a specific tribe such as Seminoles, who FSU pays for the rights, and using a "name" that is in current standards considered a slur.

Who would you ask about using "Redskins"? It's a slur not a specific tribe.

I know it's hard for Biden people to understand that someone can walk and chew gum at the same time. Biden was essentially a vegetable. But Trump is a workhorse. He works all hours of the day and he can find plenty of time to weigh in on issues that he wants to with a couple of quick tweets.

His Doctor says he's obese. Maybe instead of tweeting he should do a bit of cardio?

lol Trump is notorious for sleeping in after his late night rambling and spending the first several hours of the day sitting on his *** watching Fox News...unless he's playing golf, of course. laziest fatass president we've ever had and morons like fatpiggy think he's doing creatine while working his capped delts at 6am every morning.

You dont believe that. Trump takes more golf trips than any president ever. And he pays his own company with American tax dollars for that privilege, which is unprecedented. Never been done and congress is scared to call on the emoluments clause. He's doing out in the open what you all want to investigate democrats for 17 years ago.

Hurry up football season. You need something else to do because you are failing miserably with these takes. Good grief.

They totally support Trump's suddenly making an issue of the Redskins\Commanders thing. Why? Because they are Trump Cultists and approve his continuing efforts to distract the American public from the Epstein debacle. Unfortunately, it's not gonna go away, which makes Trump's "Wag the Dog" strategy simultaneously pathetic and hilarious.
