I know I know, I've seen this movie before. Every 20 years, a bunch of crusaders come along and try to change up everything to do with MSU, and start pumping self esteem into everyone. Happened during the Croom Error and it's happening again now. Guess it just takes those triggering moments, like Jackie's demise and now Leach's death.

But most times all it takes is a good AD and coach, rather than some fan-led movement.

Why do fans say this? What would it take to change that?
Imagine if you will.. you get a great job. You are excited, it pays more than you hoped, it comes with a new company car, full insurance, corner office, cherry wood desk, you can afford a large new home. You just proposed marriage to the most beautiful girl that is also your best friend who likes sports more than you do. The sky is bluer, sun is brighter, mountains are taller, the grass is greener, every song on the radio are your favorite songs. You get to work and it turns out the boss of the company went to the same college and was in the same fraternity as you and has box seats with a few extra seats. Everything is fantastic… except…

You are in Hiroshima, Japan and the date is August 6, 1945

Also see: RMS Titanic and the song Detroit Rock City.

Define "Mississippi State things."
It's like when you're headed for the beach on vacation, got a nice place right in the beach with a bit of privacy and a fully stocked bar. But you get caught up in beach traffic and that Buc-ees brisket sandwich hits bottom and you squeeze and pray you can get to a gas station, and you make there only to find the restroom is out of order and you **** down your leg in a packed out store.

Two other similarities come to mind.

Spursy, for Premier League fans

Munsoned, for movie fans

Good question. It seems kind of a fatalistic self-loathing that I suppose stems from chronic underachievement. The person you spend the most time listening to is yourself and you can tell yourself some pretty harmful things. Fan bases are no different. I really hate hearing it.

This sounds too accurate to be conjecture.

The "woe is me" crowd says it. I've never said it and never will say it. I guess it came from when we had shots at NC games and lost. For the most part I'm a glass half full person. I have great memories of my time at State and never want to damage that with negative connotations.
