Nick Griffin. He sounds like he's headed for meaningful PT this fall. At least headed into fall practice.

If anyone deserves to be successful it is Nick. He has fought through two tough

injuries and kept a great attitude the majority of the time. He is a leader and it would be great to see him have a big year.

Pre injury, his burst of speed was top notch. Now, I'm just hoping to get some productivity from him just because he has been a heck of a teammate in the middle of tough times.

Yeah, that's what I keep hearing burst and cuts are better than last year. If he can hang onto those, he can get on the field in 2014. He's a freakish athlete when healthy. He will always go down as one of the biggest 'what ifs' in MSU history IMO. Kind of strange considering he's been on the team for 5 years, but I think that guy had NFL potential prior knee injuries.

I have always thought he brought a lot to the table tween the tackles. Arky '12, and LSU '12 come to mind. I would like to see him, Jrob, and Shump in the 4th with a lead to salt the clock away much like we did in '10 with Vick (Fla in the swamp). Get a lead, tough defense, and pound it out. That's how you win games.

It's also how you lose games...Auburn '13 comes to mind.

Yes. That game should go down as the worst in Mullen's tenure.

The offense and his boneheaded two point conversion call singlehandedly lost us the game.

People blame the defense for that one but that's ridiculous. They continued to give the offense the ball at midfield in the 2nd half ALL half. Nada.

Strongly disagree. Apples and oranges. They had no running game. They ate 4 minutes off the clock. AU was going to get the ball back needing a FG to tie. Mullen even tried for it on 4th down deep in his own territory. Auburn drove the length of the field in under 2 mins and won the game. Congrats to them.

Agree with you partially. Our running game, offensive line mentality or physicality in '10 were no where close to where they were in '13.

we got after people up front in '10, and most DL's were a few yards back off the LOS before they could get a hand on Vick. Maybe that is the difference in Vick and Perk or maybe there were more holes.

Bottom line we could trust the run game in '10, we haven't really been able to since then. It has worked in spurts, but not consistently.

Defense isn't totally without blame when they let a QB who can't throw throw for 339 yards on them.

Me too, he is the next Freak. He is mentioned in the top three fastest guys on

the team and he is a linebacker.

Is he still a 17'in auburn fan though? I hope Mullen ran his *** till he was ragged over that comment when he was a recruit.

I wouldn't say that was the drive we lost it on. We got so predictable and conservative after we took the lead. It was just like the Florida game where Mullen was content to play the field position game by being conservative, punting, pinning deep, and relying on the defense. You will fail more than you succeed in today's college football doing that, especially against an offensive mind like Malzahn's.

On most of the sets of downs after we took the lead we ran for short games on first and second and then had to pass for 6-8 yards to convert on third.

partially agree .... most contributing factor was going into a prevent defense with 2 minutes left in the game ... AU still had 80 yards to go
