Man, I could have used a few of those yesterday. It hit 108° yesterday in Frederick OK at the softball tournament. We won 2 and lost 2 so did not place. There were 16 teams there. One team who was still in the winner's bracket when I left had the sons of men I played with back in the 80's and 90's. Rough outing for the team, but we win and lose. Last weekend in Norman we won that tournament so...

Thrilling win for the Cats yesterday. It was the first ttime I've gotten to watch the Cats under Will Stein, having been traveling the first two weeks. They certainly seemed more creative offensively, more resilient, and overall much better coached than under Stoops. Lots to be excited about.

Hello All,

Just dropped My Darling off at the back door for choir.

Sitting in the front parking lot drinking coffee and having a piece of dark chocolate. (It do mix well together. Use a spoon of cacao now regularly but not this morning.). Will go inside in about 25 minutes if the Lord doesn’t take me home.

Watching one man help a lady up the three steps with her walker. The men’s outside group is what initially led us here. They care…

The BB is probably angry with Papa. He had his soccer game yesterday and had a late practice with a couple buddies and their coach and I took him and his Mom was leaving from work to pick him up. She has a couple girl friends there. (The BBs buddies Moms.)

Ole Papa and Ama left but Papa took his iPad….. A cardinal sin…. He only gets it on weekends now that school has started.

His Mom plans to drop him off at church about 9. Pray for Papa….

Good morning folks. Got to work at Dark Thirty to catch up with stuff I missed while on vacation. A dent has been made.

Nice win by the Bengals yesterday. Seeing the D-Line pressure and even sack the quarterback brought a tear to my eye. That seemed like an impossible dream the past two or three years. Plus, the Ravens coughed up a very winnable home game to the Saints. Good Sunday.

You guys post a lot of pictures. I don't have any and wouldn't know how if I did. I found these on the internet yesterday. This is a radar station where I spent part of my tour. The Coast Guard was known as the Guiding Force because every bomber or Navy ship was guided by their radar. We were a detachment from the 366th security police unit assigned to provide security. I was the assistant NCOIC of security there. The 366 fighter pilots were called the Hun Fighters in WW2. In Vietnam they were called The Gun Fighters because they were very good. As their security force, the name also became attached to us. None of the guys in the pictures is me.

I'll bet the night sky was full of stars since there was not much light there. In the middle of the Saudi Desert there were not lights and I could not believe the number of stars that filled the sky the first night I was there. Then, using night vision goggles it was just incredible.

What I remember most about the nights was Puff The Magic Dragon. Puff was a gunship that came out when they started shooting rockets at us. 3 mini guns. Each 6000 rounds a minUte with ever fifth round a red tracer. YOud see all these red lines coming out of the night sky. Reminded the Vietnamese of a fire breathing dragon.

AKA the "Spooky" (AC47) later the C130 was used with the same armament and some upgrades.

Back in the day, I was an Imagery Interpreter. (96D) I saw some of the aftermath of that "stuff"...

I was just getting involved in imagery maskings and data collections when I exited active duty...

I spent a lot of my time on active duty stationed at Fort Bragg but spent a lot of that time at the Navy Yard in DC reviewing imagery (TDY). HA, that was back in around 1982 to 84.... I just retired from the DON at the Navy Yard a year ago...................................Yesterday!

I just got to look at what you posted then I saw this guys name. Jim Burke…. I looked this over but need to do it tomorrow if I am able to take time from my computer. (Too small on my phone to be fully sure.) I saw several pictures but I need to look at this guy and research him better but, I believe I may know this guy.

If who I think it may be his name is James Greg Burke. He is five or six years older than me but growing up we went to church together in River Rouge Michigan. I was I think 16 or 17 but I was his best man in his first marriage. This guy was retiring as an attorney for the VA the last time I talked with him about a year and a half ago. I always called him Greg but many call him Jim…

Got me curious anyway. I still have his contact info if this is him. His second wife died a couple years ago.

Weather cooling down just a bit now, high to be in the mid 80's today but inching back up in the next few days. Figures, I have another co-ed softball tournament this weekend (this time in Wichita Falls TX) and the weather is going back up to the mid 90's for Saturday. Plus, Sunday starts fall league in Lawton OK. Going to be wore out by the time Monday comes. Still tired from this past weekend's games. Not complaining though really. I thank God every day for keeping me healthy enough to continue to play at my age.

@AustinTXCat glad to hear you are enjoying yourself. Stay safe over there and slow down, it moves too fast when you are having fun.

Please say a prayer for our community, one of our police officers passed away in his sleep Friday morning, he was my son's partner on day shift. I worked with him when I worked at Dyno Nobel, he was a good friend of mine and Mrs. M, he is being laid to rest this morning, END OF WATCH 163!!! YOU ARE GOING TO BE MISSED!!

Something came up and I did a search on James Garner. Always liked Maverick and Rockford Files. He got 2 Purple Hearts. One from shrapnel from a mortar shell. Another from friendly fighter plane fire as he was shot in the butt while diving in a fox hole. He said with that big a target, how could they miss. Never even knew he was military.

One morning in Phan Rang, a buddy and I were enjoying a couple or three beers after a midnight shift. At the other end of the hooch we heard a guy cussing and screaming to beat the devil. Our whole shift had just got off work and was ready for some sleep, so I told my buddy, "I will take care of that if he is still carrying on when he gets here." We all had sheets hanging up for walls and doors.

When he got to us and opened our "door", he made Arnold Schwarzenegger look like a wimp. His forehead , face and chest were covered with blood. Discretion was the better part of valor (also the smarter thing to do). I merely looked at him and kept my mouth shut while he continued down the hooch.

Turns out he had turned a blind corner and someone had hit him in the head with a two by four. He was looking for his attacker.

Good morning folks. Still overcast and cold in the east. It blows my mind tha a week ago I was on a safari in Botswana, and now I'm trudging into my DC office on the subway and grinding out another work day. Ah well. I'll eventually get smart enough to retire.

Talked to my son last night. The firefighting crew he's on is winding down for now, and he's back doing more routine brush clearing stuff. He thinks he has work llned up through the slower season. It reminds me of my pipelining days when you had to either go back to school or figure something out after Labor Day because the work began to wind down and the young help were the first guys laid off.

Hoping the gloomy weather blows over by the weekend. I'm seeing my daughter for the first time since she got engaged and we're planning to have lunch at a bistro in DC with outdoor seating in good weather. Hope all is going well for you folks.
