Speculating reporters that make money off of trying to scoop a story and you people spreading speculation on a message board. Stand back from the computer, take a deep breath and think about it a bit.
Dan has been 100% Dawg since he took the job here. He's worked hard on building a foundation and stresses that this is a school that is on the rise. Dan set out to build a program. He's on a mission and I think he is the type person that will finish the mission. Dan will stick with MSU and get us to Atlanta for an SEC championship. After that, it's up in the air.
Yes, there are some "high profile" jobs coming open right now but why would he leave? He's got MSU in as much positive press as any of these other schools. He's got people talking about us competing in the National Championship game. He's got us going to a New Year's day bowl. He has this program headed in the right direction. The schools that are looking for a head coach are looking because they are headed in the wrong direction. Why would he jump from a ship that's headed to port for one that's out to sea taking on water? Why would he want to take a step backwards in building a program? I think Dan is as close to having a championship team here at MSU as he would be if he went to UF or Miami. I don't see him making the jump now.
He could leave now and take a job at one of these schools, inherit their problems and take what money they offer after having a 5-7 year and an 8-4 year. Or he could invest a couple more years at MSU, take us to the SEC Championship and show that he can truly build a program. After he does that, then he can go write his own ticket anywhere he want's to go. I don't think Dan will give up what he's worked hard for over the last two years yet.
That's my opinion. Feel free to fire away with yours.
