Some amazing play so far from the two front-runners.

Doubt we'll hear from any Tiger buttboys today, telling us how these guys just limped to the finish faster than the rest of the lackluster field.

I think it's been a couple years since people have referenced Tiger's absence leading to wins. Between Spieth, Day and Mcilroy, the torch has passed and they are playing second fiddle to no one.

ps., Go Lefty! 46 years old and playing like a boss! Not bad.

Amazing perfomance by Stenson. I'm not a MIckelson fan, but I'll happily admit that he probably played the greatest round ever in the final group of a major that didn't result in a win..

It's much easier to pull for players that have respect for their wives...that aren't banging anything that wears a dress.

Nobody should be shooing -20 at a major championship. Either it's time to toughen these courses up or else put some windmills and aligators on it and admit its miniature golf. The putting was way too easy. My public course has faster greens than that Also, I don't recall how many times there were open entries into the green. At this level every pin should be behind a trap or water.

I'd agree if the entire field was in double digits. The course played tough and it showed...Third place was -6. These two guys played lights out and and we'll probably never witness that again. The best final round in a major I've witnessed and was rooting for both!

It's not like everybody went real deep. 2 guys played lights out all week and walked away from the field. This is the kind of golf that golf needs, for it to come down to Sunday and knowing that every shot matters.

Wouldn't it be easier to just make the ball fractionally larger for the pros. I don't think it'd take much to bring them back 25-50 yards.

When I heard Phil didn't have a single bogey I thought for sure he had won. Then I heard that Stenson had 10 birdies and about fell out of my chair. Very impressive golf from both.

I may be in the minority here, but I find watching the British Open to be depressing. Always gray skies and honestly, the only uglier topography in the world is in the Middle East. And links golf is a bore. Never any trees to force the players to bend a shot around them.

Those bunkers, though! It gives me great pleasure when they can't get out of them.

True. Those bunkers are crazy deep.

The name "The Open" is very pretentious to me. It's like saying "The Ohio State University." You're Ohio State. And you're the British Open. Live with it.

It may be the oldest tourney, but it still takes a backseat to The Masters.

Wrong. And I stop listening to anyone regarding golf if they dont like links golf.

The feskew, the winds, the pot bunkers, the ability to put from 100 Yds out. I love me some links golf.

Links courses have very little character to me. Trees and bushes and flowers are just a much more inviting backdrop. The beauty of Augusta is much more inviting to me than a place that doesn't have a flower on the entire property.

I agree with you there. Augusta and some of those stateside courses and definitely a lot more beautiful. I just love links golf courses and find them very fun to play.

While I really enjoy this tournament, I'm with you guys on this one. In fact, the only reason I titled this thread "The Open" is because I figured if the term British made an appearance, someone would surely pitch a fit about it.

I'll go you one better. It would have been nice to see Tiger withdraw after shooting 81 the first day and +6 after 9 holes the second day, then "have a tweak in his back" as the reason for the withdrawal.

Well they did in fact invent golf. They have earned the right to call their tournament whatever they want. It isn't being pretentious.
