is that he is a great recruiter. He would come in here and get our recruiting up to B1G elite standards. Sure he is not a great coach and would probably win 6-8 games each year. In the next 4 years, if he is not performing, then we can replace with another coach. Our finances would have improved by then and we should have talent on the team to attract a top level coach. Let's face it regardless of who we hire right now there are going to be some difficult years ahead of us due to the garbage recruiting classes that Flood has left behind.

Is he really a great recruiter? I looked the other day and his classes at Temple were not impressive. Rutgers had better recruits each year from what I recall. I understand he had a tougher job with attracting talent to Temple, but seriously, did you see his classes? They are nothing but 2 and 3 stars.

I seriously give no credence to his recruiting classes at Miami. They are impressive but how much of that is his work versus kids wanting to play at the U? Miami has so much local talent and the weather is incredible. It seems every recent coach at Miami has been able to recruit exceptionally well. You also cannot overlook the lack of winning teams he had at Miami with all that talent and a mediocre ACC.

He didn't even win 8 games in the easy ACC.

I like your post...further he should give Mike Locksley a position as recruiting Coord. or Asst TE's coach anything and stockpile talent but we would need top notch O and D coordinators to pull it off...great combination of sales and FB minds...we need some creativity here...the trouble at RU is its so divided..right down to our own fanbase...I honestly think theirs people fearful of the possibilities with AG here....hey..we might kill it and shame the detractors...

Yeah, I don't want Golden because he "might kill it and shame the detractors."

Did you just escape from the looney bin?

This. Although I wouldn't hold mediocre recruiting at Temple against him. Why would a 4* kid go to Temple now let alone 5 years ago. I think he's a solid recruiter, but it's VERY easy to recruit at Miami. Now opposing coaches have the extra ammo of asking recruits why they want to play at an ACC coastal reject.

Look at how many kids Decommitted from da U over the last 5 years and tell me again how great a recruiter he is.

When Watching rookies Clive Walford and Duke Johnson this year in the NFL, I think to myself how the hell didn't Golden win with these guys? And they had 3 higher draft picks last year.

1 9 Ereck Flowers, OL New York Giants
1 29 Phillip Dorsett, WR Indianapolis Colts
2 48 Denzel Perryman, LB San Diego Chargers
3 68 Clive Walford, TE Oakland Raiders
3 77 Duke Johnson, RB Cleveland Browns
4 128 Jon Feliciano, OL Oakland Raiders
6 212 Anthony Chickillo, DL Pittsburgh Steelers

Come on fellas, let's get a good coach. Golden is a Creep State alum, never was coach, on his way DOWN.

He's done, and he'd just drag us down with him.

No way, no how.

Is it true he used to bash Rutgers to recruits when he was at Temple?? Right there would make me say no to this clown.

Thats the reason i've always truly despised him...maybe others feel like me but when it comes to RU getting the buzz back I can live with that...its common in recruiting to ''knock'' the competition. I can live with it if he'll help get us back some buzz and W's...GS was on his way when he left or so it appeared and I'd love to have that excitement back in NY/NJ again whomever it may be.

Temple is ancient history. He was terrible in the ACC. Had a losing record in conference against teams with less talent. Why on earth would you want that?

No thanks.

It's gotta be true. I've read it at least 40 times from the same three whiners on this board who will sabotage ANY hire Rutgers makes short of Vince Lombardi's corpse.

Mr Kettle, there is a call from Mr Pot on line one.

You are 100% wrong. Brain is PASSIONATE about Rutgers' athletics (almost too much so at times, if I may say so!) and really wants us to win. He is convinced that Golden is not a good choice to make that happen. Can you not believe that there are Rutgers fans who want to win feel that way?

"Fearful of the possibilities of AG here" - yes, we are afraid that he will continue to drive us into the ground.

Fearful that he might kill it here? Not at all. I will gladly eat a great big heaping of crow if Golden is the next hire and is successful here. Will you step up to the same buffet if he is the next hire and wets the bed?

We can't eliminate coaches who were once our competition and recruited against us using negative comments. Would we not hire Urban or Harbaugh just because they probably bad mouth us?

Like i said...I want anyone who gives us back the pride..seems GS don't even want our job and he was my preference...I'm hoping we hit a HR with a guy like Mullen but who knows...Ash was recruiting a nice 4 star for OSU from NJ.....will he be able to talk NJ kids into coming here....Believe me RUtrumpet....few have been RU fans longer than me...11 or 12 yrs old in ''63'' as a newspaper boy in Belleville 1st thing on Sunday morning look for Dave Kleins article on RUFB at 4 am in the AM...LOL...''NN'S'' AND ''NSL''...2 ROUTES and yes i have my opinion and its just as valids as anyones...he called me out...not the other way...I respect anyones opinions whether i agree or not. I expect the same courteousy...not called a Looney escapee.

He couldn't recruit Miami kids to play for Miami...

Using your logic ASH should get no credit as a great recruiter at Ohio State because the school is a elite football program and last seasons national champion.

Some people get so excited that we can hire a coach who will get us to 6-6 with a breakout year of 8-4, Believing that it will be good for the NEXT coach to build off of? That's short sighted and shows in your heart you believe that's the best Rutgers can do. I say it can do much better, No to Al "nothing is ever my fault" Golden.
