operations...For this four-year bowl cycle, a condition for the SEC to
participate in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl ?called for Conference USA to
vacate the game in two out of four years when the SEC has nine bowl
eligible teams...The Conference Board of Directors approved the
agreement with this condition...As Conference ?Champion with the Liberty
Bowl out of the picture, the team has the choice of any bowl in the
Conference USA bowl line-up...Hawaii was the choice of Southern Miss...I
hope this is helpful...Alfred White
that's right - we had a choice of 3 bowls games and Mr G. CHOSE HAWAII. FIRE HIM NOW. FIRE THE PRESIDENT TOO. Part of me misses being independent.

i am telling you right now - Fedora might go to T AM or something but don't be surprised if Mr G. is gone next year. He is a goob and ever since he arrived here in 1999 we have slowly plummeted. FIRE HIM and if martha loves him so much then FIRE HER too.

yep , him and G are in it together to cover each other a$$. Fedora probably doesn't care - b/c he knows he is about to go somewhere else. Oh he will be in Hawaii...but it wont be to coach a football game and dont be surprised if Nevada wins, as bad as we would have to play. Because the players and coaches will have lots on their mind - and not one of them will be about the ball game.

What a complete ahole. Seriously, the man has gone in one day from finally being respected by USM fans for winning a championship to being hated tonight. Hell, I knew from the first of the year he had told his agent he wanted out of Hattiesburg and it isn't because his wife isn't happy there. He managed to blow the one chance USM will probably have of going to a BCS bowl by losing for the third straight year to UAB. What a joke that was. Now he did get his team ready for Houston, but in reality, Houston sucked. Now he knows he is leaving and all on his own without checking with at least his seniors, he picks the Hawaii bowl over two bowl games in Dallas playing Penn State and BYU. Why? Well, the Hawaii bowl is earlier, so he and his staff can be on to their new gig sooner. He wants to pad that resume by playing Nevada and not PSU or BYU. He gets to have a free vacation with his family and staff.

He could care less that our team wanted to play Penn State or BYU with their fans and family in the stands. He could care less that maybe his players wanted to be home for Christmas. He is a sorry son of a *****. Never really liked the guy because he always had that pretty boy sleaze to him and right when he won me over, he proved me right in the end. Mullen has ten times the class Fedora does. Sorry for the rant and you probably could care less, but I am pissed.

The reason you are going to the Hawaii Bowl where no one brings fans is just that. SMU, Tulsa, and Houston will sell more tickets, merchandise, and spend more money on accommodations. Simply put. You can say the coach had something to do with it, you can blame it on the AD no one seems to like, but the truth is... no one ever brings fans to the Hawaii game, it's for locals and people there already for the holidays. What better fanbase to send when you have 3 other schools that would do better for your conference?

You can't fill up a 29,000 seat stadium during the best season of all time, you don't deserve a bowl. Be happy you get to watch your team on ESPN for the first time in a coon's age.

it has a lot to do with the fact that they also know that he's leaving. Because of that, I think they feel he's 17n them after he puts their team in a lesser bowl against a lesser opponent for a lesser payout. I don't think... he intentionally decided to screw them as he decided to exit, but I think that is a big reason for why they're calling foul.<div>
</div><div>All I know is... if Mullen had done the same thing, we'd have a lot of dumb fans saying the same thing despite how stupid it may sound.</div>

I grew up in USM country and my entire family went there, so I should have a soft spot in my heart for them, but it just pisses me off when a gnat won't leave me alone about how Tulane has more SEC championships than my school (circa 534 AD) and that we lost to Maine, Tulane, and UAB. It's just as bad as Ole Miss fans telling me about how Archie Manning played the greatest game of all time against Alabama when he was there. Maybe worse.

If we're talking history, USM has a losing record against high school opponents. There's a reason a 11-2 team is going to a bowl game as bad as the New Orleans Bowl that is essentially unattainable to fans when a 6-6 SEC team in the same state is going to a bowl with a better payout mere hours away from the campus... and I HATE conference fans, I'm just stating facts.

USM got screwed, yes. I sympathize with you that yall got screwed over... but maybe this will catapult your fanbase back into reality and yall will find out that you have to make your students care about football, make those same students attend games, and make those SAME STUDENTS and their little siblings and so on create political pressure once they have the wallets to do so so that when an AD does some dumb **** like this, he gets fired. And do something about a conference screwing you over every year.

Sitting on a website and talking about how great USM is over Ole Miss and Mississippi State is great, but there's a reason no one gives a **** about you in Mississippi or anywhere else. Do something about it. Mississippi State has the ball rolling, and it seems to be working for us (cough Quay cough Evans cough).

I realize the attendance agenda is more than you can see around, but I highly suggest you check out the attendance history of Tulsa and Houston and you will see how foolish your post is. Based on your thinking, I am sure you think a 6-6 MSU team with a win over one team with a winning record, that USM also beat, is not bowl worthy either.

You're a 17'n moron. I live in Dallas, and have had the "pleasure" of attending SMU games. SMU would not outdraw Southern Miss, even in Texas. If Mullen did some ******** like this, I'd be mad as hell too. Fedora basically gave their whole fan base the middle finger on the way out, and their AD just laid back and took it. I hate the buzzards as much as the next guy, but this sucks for them. Oh well, see you in Nashville.

He only spoke on the commerce aspect. Didn't talk about the merits of the actual team. So by that stand point, yea MSU could hold their own and have shown they can in the past 2 bowls they've been too. But personally... from what I've been seeing... I think it's more to it than just attendance and I really think Fedora screwed the pooch.

I have 3 USM fans tell me I'm stupid because SMU, Tulsa, and Houston would bring as many or less fans to a bowl as USM... yes, that may be true, but I was implying that UH, SMU, and Tulsa have wealthier fan bases than USM. That's not my opinion, you can look at your athletic budget if you need some proof. Isn't it in the bottom 5 of the 120? That's not an insult, your athletic department gets the biggest bang for the buck of any team in the US.

But you went to the New Orleans Bowl year after year after year and brought 100 fans, and it's the closest bowl to USM. Only an hour away. You put pressure on the athletic department to lobby for a better bowl and they did, he got you to the Beef O'Brady Bowl where you brought even less fans. Your team lost $200k by just going to the game.

Most recently your school sent 2,000 tickets back to UH for the C-USA championship game that yall are so proud of winning that apparently none of yall went to.

UH, Tulsa, and SMU might have bad attendance figures too, but UH has a top medical school and is in one of the largest cities in America. SMU is a very expensive school and has a lot of important people who go there. Tulsa still beats out USM.

SMU brought people to the Hawaii Bowl a couple years ago. USM fans have no interest in going because it's not an hour away.

It's about commerce. It's always been about commerce. If you can't fill your stadium, sell bowl tickets, attend your championship game, and worse... are the poorest school in the poorest state in the United States... you're not going to a good bowl game.

Keep drinking the Kool-Aid. USM didn't choose ****, I assure you. I think Gerald himself knows that USM having an opportunity to play Penn State regardless of their current state is a once in a lifetime occurrence. That's like Mississippi State turning down the Rose Bowl against Southern Cal because we wanted to go to St. Petersburg against UConn because of the percentage of strip clubs in the area.

even those who wanted to can Bower so badly had second thoughts after the OK State prick showed up. I've been around him a lot, mainly after games in locker room and by team bus and I've seen some long time fans walk up to him and almost punch him for the stupid **** he does in games.

For instance, when Damion Fletcher was about to become only the 6th player in NCAA history to rush for 1000 yards in all 4 years. I was in attendance. They were getting the **** kicked out of them by Middle Tenn. It was late in the 4th and Fletcher only needed a few yards to surpass 1000. Dumbshit Fedora was passing every play and didn't even have Fletcher in the game. It took a group of fans (only 3), getting a trainers attention, that trainer told a coach (not Fedora) to put Fletcher in. Prick Fedora, now full knowing about the record, continues to pass. The 10 Fans then get irate and start chanting Fletcher's name. 5 plays later a run is called and Fletcher breaks it for around 30 yards. After the game, when asked about Fletcher barely breaking the 1000 yard mark to become the 6th player ever to do it Dickwad Fedora responds with, "We aren't worried about individual records on this team." What type of dickhead coach would do this to a kid in a game that's way out of hand? I didnt think Fedora was going to make if on their bus without some part of his face swollen. The close family around the team bus were pissed. But that's just the type of guy he is.

USM fans got rid of a guy who'd never treat a player bad and would never treat the university bad and leave, but you reap what you sow...........

It does suck for the fans but don't we joke all the time about the lack of fan support? So of the 20 regular fans, maybe 5 will get to go to the game.

But think about the players. They get a chance for a free trip to Birmingham, Shreveport or Hawaii. Well, that would be a no brainier for me. Reward the players and have a good trip!!!!
