They claim that Chris Jones was basically forced into going to Mississippi State because of his high school coach. They say that all the pressure from Houston, Mississippi people and the coach that graduated from Mississippi State is the reason why he's going to be a Dawg. Would this not be the exact same situation as players being recruited At South Panola?

I think term 'forced' isn't appropriate in either case. I think SP players are pushed towards Ole Miss by their families. I don't know Chris Jones' situation, aside that he was only taken to one summer camp.

He plays an hour from Oxford. Whose fault is it it took the OM coaches until 2 weeks ago to offer a guy that plays down the street?

Jones has stated several times he grew up a State fan.

this didn't just happen with the coach he had for 1 year.

17 them, their ******** and their buck-toothed coach. The kluckers always spout ******** this time of year because they, of course will, win a National Championship when KM-D-Chi signs with them. You know, just like that National Championship they won back in 2009 when they had their best team ever who won back to back Cotton bowls in "FI-TY Yeeeers!"

Perhaps, but it's Ole Miss's own fault they didn't scout him out a year ago and get an offer to him.

The reason they didn't want him is b/c he didn't have any stars by his name. Once he started his run up the rankings, that is when they offered him.

The butt hurt is strong with this one.

Take a deep breath and calm down. Its just college football. No reason to take it so personally.

Did all 240 of these guys camp at Ole Miss?

I doubt they were all seen up close and personal either. But I for one am glad y'all missed him.

"Freeze hasn’t had the luxury of recruiting multiple years on any one recruit, but he has wasted little time hitting the recruiting road, as the Rebels have offered over 240 prospects from around the country.

Most coaches, especially at big-time programs, target and offer 120 recruits.

But not Coach Freeze."

Seems as though fans of rival schools like to use recruiting battles as testaments to their school pride. As an example, Ole Miss fans think Kailo Moore signing with them is a sign that he prefers UM over MSU. Technically this is true, but the bigger point I'm trying to make is that I feel some MSU fans don't like that other fans are pointing out that we didn't really 'beat' anybody for him. And in that, they are using that against. Who cares though? We're getting a high-level talent. Not to mention that at the end of the day we did beat out a number of schools to sign him. Evaluation is 80% of recrootin.

Add to that, he will help us sign other good players in the future. So who gives a ****?

When you don't have the same prestige as the Alabama and Floridas of the world, you end up having to become better evaluators and seekers for talent than you do otherwise. Alabama can just offer elite prospects and fill their class without as much evaluation. Schools like us get their "stars" by finding diamonds in the rough and occasional life-long fans and legacies.

That's one thing our staff seems to do extremely well--evaluate talent.

Your staff has yet to show whether it can or not, maybe it can, maybe not. For right now somehow yall are in on some big-time prospects; don't know how but you are. We will see how some of the "lesser" prospects (in terms of stars) perform for you and then be able to better judge how well they evaluate talent.

Hard to do when the high school head coach won't let you talk to anyone without him there. Unless, of course, you work for MSU.

And,

No idea. I'm sure had he camped at Ole Miss, they would've seen him close up and offered.

Meanwhile, Bucky is offering any potential 3 star and above HS player in the contintental US and sending out 4+ gazillion hand written letters to anyone that is currently playing football in the US.

Besides, this is OUR STATE.

I know yancy told you that (yancy, the guy who you dont subscribe to and dont get any of your info from), however, this is simply untrue.

But Im sure a nurse that lives in meridian that doesnt subscribe to yancy simply has all these amazing connections. A man that knows FOR FACT that msu paid money to Chris Jones.

There should be a rule that after a man turns 25, he isnt allowed to follow recruiting.

Every school is hypocritical when it comes to recruiting**

Freeze has done a much better job than Nutt did of evaluating kids and offering guys that can play. Derrick Jones comes to mind.

Hard to do when the high school head coach won't let you talk to anyone without him there. Unless, of course, you work for MSU.
Thanks for giving a perfect example of the hypocrisy previously mentioned. You are whining when it goes this way for MSU -- but I didn't hear any of you complaining about it when Bobby Hall or Lance Pogue act similarly in support of OM.

well i apologize railin. didn;t mean for it to come out that way

i do think in this case msu did a good job of finding the kid first. and was trying to give credit there. but to me "holding" a recruit is just as important as getting them committed in the first place. so now that cjones is "known" and being recruited by others i give msu credit for "beating" everybody if ya'll keep him. right now we have kailo moore but we still have to keep recruiting him to keep him. nobody quits on these kids till the ink is dry.

Really? We ID'ed him early, recruited like hell, stayed on him. Is it really that hard for you 17ers to give anybody else recruiting credit. Because God knows nobody recruits like OM.

I had never heard about the dude until a few weeks ago.

I subscribe to the Spirit, but Yancy didn't tell me anything. I don't know if he has said that about Chris Jones' head coach before, but if he has it would be correct.

And I don't live in Meridian. Never have. I'm not sure where you came up with that one.

Youre right, I meant Jackson. You work with several 6packers. They all love you.

And yes, we know we know. Yancy never said he was paid for but Im sure someone said it in chat or via text, which makes it official and fact to you. About as much fact as cj, pruett or channing.....I know those are fact because I read about it or heard it in chat.

Maybe at Houston High School they still honor what the word commitment means? (Look down.)

Everyone on here is angry. Don't bother asking a legit question.

Chris Jones was a great find by State and he is by all reports going to be awesome. I won't go all CoonAss on anyone, but when Bama comes calling, he is going to listen. He may be 115% committed to MSU, but if they call, he would be a fool not to at least talk to them. That does not mean i am saying he is going to Bama. I am saying that he if i were a betting man, I would bet that he at least takes a visit. Anyone on here that would get their panties in a wad for a 17 yr old kid taking a recruiting visit should really reconsider their priorities in life.

He already talked to them. Rumph(Bama DL coach) visited him at his highschool last Friday. He was on campus @ MSU later that afternoon visiting with our new DL coach David Turner -- Everyone that covered Mullen's press conference saw him there. Sounds pretty committed to me in literally EVERYTHING he has said or done. We are defensive because let's be real -- he is the CORNERSTONE of our class -- that we absolutely MUST hold onto. Everyone knows that.

Sure, I wouldn't be surprised if he answers Bama, Florida, and LSU's calls. I would too if I were him. I'd probably like to visit those places as well if I were him -- and I wouldn't hold it against him if he did. Recruiting is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for these guys. At the end of the day, the kid is going to be at MSU -- and the amount of drama people are trying to stir up over it is hilarious at this point and just playing on old insecurities of a fanbase that doesn't have much to worry about on this one. JMO.
