The Redskins and Bears are making Nick Saban a rich(er) man.

Money has no weight in the decision unless Saban is the type that can never have enough money. He doesn't seem like that type. Respect, however, is another thing. He failed in his first attempt with Miami. He constantly preaches winning through execution. He certainly didn't live up that mantra in Miami. Instead he left unceremoniously. Really his antics were not much if any better than Pitreno's at Atlanta.

So it comes down to recruiting trail and schmoozing alumni versus dealing with athletes that make more than you and Jerry Jones.

I think his ego drives him back to NFL just so he can cross that off his list, something most other college football oracles couldn't do.

Here's reality..

The University of Alabama can pay more than the Cowboys, it's easier to win in college football, and he's already tried the NFL.

He's at Bama to stay.

It's not his fault that Ricky Williams decided to find his zen before the season started and left the team high and dry. Plus, Saban was there for about two-three years. I think he would be successful in the NFL had he stayed there an extended period of time.

Saban might have to decide which is the lesser of two evils- Jerry Jones or Alabama fans. I'd have to say Alabama fans.

then walk into Dallas and beat the Cowboys. The Bears come back down to earth next week against the Packers.

Going to the Cowboys doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. He's like Pete Carroll was at USC now- an unsuccessful NFL coach in a college program that has almost unlimited resources where he can recruit and he is being worshipped as a god. I can't see Saban and Jerry Jones getting along.

I think that if Saban leaves for a NFL team it will either be: The Patriots when Bellicheck leaves because of their relationship. Or the Falcons, Jaguars, Panthers or Buccaneers because of his lake house in Georgia.

I think the Cowboys will go after Sean Payton of the Saints myself.

Saban will jump not because of the money but for the challenge. He has nothing left to prove at the college level, but his ego won't be able to stand that smear on his record from the Dolphins. As for the relationship, Jerry alternates between coaches he can control (Wade, Gailey, Barry Switzer) and those he can't (Jimmy Johnson, Parcells). Guess which kind of coach performs better? It's time for one he can't control because Jerry wants to win.

I don't know everything about his contract, but if he continues to succeed, I would guess at least 6 million on the low end.

Just going to depend on coaches salaries in the NFL.

about this (Specifically the guy who makes his lifts) and was told that he will stay in Alabama as long as they will let him and that they are willing (and have the money) to pay him whatever it takes to keep him there. Let's face reality. He can sign the very best players to scholarship and those who don't sign scholarships will walk on if needed to play there.

They have already placed a taller than life bronze statue of the guy beside Bryant-Denny fer Jeepers sakes!

additionally, his money is no good in Bammer.... if he bails on us, it certainly won't be for money, status, or (unilateral) organizational control...

17 it, give him another raise....

I was thinking 6 million without perks and etc. as a base salary. I believe it's at 4 million now, but again I don't really know all of the specifics of his contract.

he's got a new contract through 2017... I've not seen the contract, but I would speculate it's scaring 5m in base salary.

He's never going to get a job offer as good as the one he's got right now. People have been wishing him away from Alabama ever since the day he got there, but I just don't see it. I think he's going to be there for a long time.
