You do realize Riley had to take over the playcalling duties for Langsdorf in 2012 after the offense started tanking under Langsdorf's playcalling the previous years? Oregon State improved immediately in 2012 after Danny was demoted.

The point I made was that Dabo was willing to fire Steele and Napier and bring in more proven coordinators to elevate the program. Bo was not willing to do that here, and Riley was not willing to do that at Oregon State.

Also pretty sure any coach not named Mike Riley would take Venables or even Steele over Mark Banker any day.

I'm more than aware of what was stated on the surface, no need to link an article, I pay attention to college football.

That's a terrible way of making a point, although I understand your bigger picture meaning, the delivery was off. It doesn't matter what Riley was not willing to do at Oregon State, it's irrelevant with him at Nebraska.

As long as he's willing to move, I'm sure Riley would too. But don't let that little important fact get in the way of your convoluted thoughts of Mike Riley.

Banker never had the kind of talent to work with at OSU for us to be certain he can't be successful at NU. D'Antonio took his whole defensive staff to OSU a few summers ago to learn from Banker. Methinks we under-appreciate Banker's knowledge and coaching abilities. IMO we need to give him some time. It sure as hell looked to me those last few games like he had our defense improving dramatically even though short handed at many positions. As far as Langsdorf goes, I think he has a great football mind. IMO he seems that he may lose some focus in his play calling at times. That didn't happen in the bowl game. I'm hopeful that trend continues.

IMO, Clemson's biggest thing this year was their QB. He completely changes the game. When he's gone (next year likely) they will stumble.

where did you hear this - D'Antonio took his whole defensive staff to OSU a few summers ago to learn from Banker My understanding is that Banker is patterning his defense after Narduzzi not the other way around

In this link, Riley mentions a visit. Sorry, it doesn't go into a lot of details about what went on, other than to say that they learned from each other. But, it sounds like a visit did happen.

Banker ran quarters and other coverage's at Oregon State, there's plenty of (non Nebraska related) articles one can read that state it. From all the research I did last year after he was announced DC, it seems like he's not married to just one coverage/system and is willing to adapt.

Michigan State did visit with the Oregon State staff, the article I read said it had to deal with Sparty meeting up with Stanford in a bowl game. What that tells me is there was some type of preexisting relationship between the 2 staffs.

Ooops.....Average 39.33 under Steele...... Average 32.31 under Venables. Wow. What a huge difference. This INCLUDES an obvious anomaly year of #81 under Steele. Facts suck, don't they?
