The only European player that didn't outscore Scottie Scheffler was Rasmus Hojgaard. And Luke Donald hid him as much as he possibly could. For it to be a two-point margin in the end was a minor miracle. Course setup wouldn't have mattered either. It's not like in the past when the US players could consistently out-bomb Europe. Other than Bryson, there's probably not much difference. And you don't want one of your main guys launching it 350 into U.S. Open rough over and over. Especially in alternate shot.

And in team sports, you get a sub.
I was talking about single sports. You know, tennis, boxing, mma, etc. If it is one on one, if the player can't play / fight, WTF did he do to "earn" a half point ? I guess if Bud Crawford had an injury before the Canello fight, they should have just split the titles and called it a draw. All you do is post when you TRY to be "smarter" than a poster. which like in this case, 99% of the time you are wrong, and look like an assshole. Maybe just skip my post and keep your clueless BS to yourself.

Well, this was a team event, and it was the rule, which there was a precedent. So thanks for playing.

Nice selective editing. Justin Rose 55th SG-putting this season. Couldn’t miss all weekend. Hovland- 108. Lowry-123. Match the two teams putting stats up for the season. The two teams should have been relatively even putters by stats. Spend less time trying to be clever and more time reading the context of a post.

There should be no points added for either side in cases of injury. In this instance it gave the Euros, who were being run over on Sunday, a very important half point already in their pocket.

If they don’t get rid of the rule altogether then you plan accordingly. Molinari brothers or Noren get out there, otherwise you lose the point.

Well, it was a rule, and has been a rule, and has been used by the USA before.

Even the foreign announcer said the rule will likely be discussed. It should.

But it’s the rule, stupid or not.

Regardless, if the USA bunch had acted like they gave a crap on Friday and Saturday, the rule wouldn’t have been an issue at all.

It was a SINGLES match he missed. Funny, the Solheim Cup for the women does NOT have this rule. If a player can't go, a full point is awarded to the other team. Of course if it is a 4 Ball or alternate shot match,, simply replace the guy (like they did Saturday afternoon). But if it is a singles match, they should not get a half point for sitting out. Once again you are clueless,,, and wrong. Surprise, surprise. Can't wait for your shiity baseball playoff takes.

They were bad but are Rory and Lowery totally innocent or did they egg it on? They blew kisses and went after the crowd anytime they did something good. They aren't athletes, they are just guys with a stick in their hand (I love golf but it is what it is) I was as amazed at how thin their skin was as I was at the nastiness of the crowd.

Morikawa and Burns should not have been on the team. To have Morikawa and English ho out two days in a row for foursomes is lunacy. Bradley needs his head examined.

Final comment on the RC:

Forget all the stats and analysis, I just happen to think this is one of Europe's best teams, have led all the way from start to finish in two consecutive RCs. McIlroy and Rahn are obviously all time greats. Have four US Open champions on their side, Aberg is widely considered one of the top young players in the world, Hovland and McIntyre not far behind. Fleetwood and Hatton have only won once on PGA, but both have been factors worldwide for years, e.g., Hatton almost won the US Open this year, and McIntyre finished 2nd.

But the pendulum swings back and forth, 2021 was one of the strongest US teams ever (Scheffler was not even a qualifier, was a rookie captain's pick!!!), leading to a massive blowout win at Whistling Straits. It is a shame that Koepka and Spieth lost their form, Dustin Johnson now seems to not care much (although he is still younger than Justin Rose) and Daniel Berger got hurt, has not regained his top ranking either. But in two years, US could be on the upside again.

As a prediction, I doubt you will see Spaun, Henley, English, Griffin, and Morikawa unless he rights the ship.

Also, the picks should be reduced back to 2 as Tom Watson said. Make them earn it into the top 10 in points.

Side note....you can't tell me that Bryson and Rahm don't miss the PGAT and the chance to play against the best of the best each week instead of a few household names and a slew of weekend duffers.

I think they do too
