Surprise?
Disappoint?
Finish about the same as last year?

My predictions:

Surprise - Auburn (bowl), Florida wins SEC East, Tennessee (bowl)

Disappoint - Alabama (loses 2, won't win NC), Arkansas (maybe lower bowl), Ole Miss (opening schedule is tough), Vandy (lofty expectations)

About the same - LSU, MSU, USCe and the rest.

Not seeing the love for Auburn or Florida. I think Mizzou may surprise and go to a bowl game. I hope MSU surprises, and think we might.

Agree about Vandy and Mississippi disappointing. Expectations are sky high for both. Funny how no one bitches about how neither one of them beat anybody last year like they do about us. UM's win over us was by far the best win for either of them. Possibly agree about Bama as well, only because missing the NCG will be a disappointment for them.

Surprise:
Kentucky - this was a team that three years ago was on a 5 bowl appearance streak. They'll go 6-6 and get back to a bowl
Auburn - I'll pencil them in as a bowl team also
Disappointment:
aTm - Manziel loses his luster and they go something like 9-3 and don't much contend for the SECW
Vanderbilt - from Vandy you came, and to Vandy you shall return
Ole Miss - well, only if you're expecting them to go 10-2 and compete for the SECW. If you expect 6 or 7 wins like most sane people, then file them in the not changing much category

Not sure Auburn will be that much of a surprise considering everyone and their mother is saying they will be a surprise and finish with 7 or 8 wins.

I think A&M and Ole Miss will disappoint. I think Manziel will go through a slump, and even if he wins 8 games in the eyes of the media that will be far less than expected. To a certain degree I think the same about Ole Miss. Media and their fan base have pumped them up to be "it" this year. If they don't come out of the gate kicking and screaming I think the talking heads will write them off next December like they did us following our hype and immediate demise. I think everyone is going to have it in for Vandy this year and now that they're a game circled on a lot of people's calenders I don't think their talent level will be able to overcome anyone else's... so they might disappoint as everyone's underdog.

I think LSU finishes the same. I think UT finishes ABOUT the same (6-7 record opposed to a 5-7 record). MU might win 6 games.

Overall the good teams will be good next year and no one cares about the rest except their own fan bases. South Carolina and Alabama in the SECCG. I like USC this year.

Good points. I picked Auburn to surprise because they do have a good talent pool there in spite of their last coach. They really lack in the QB department but they have enough big uglies on both sides of the ball to contend.

It sounds real easy to say Ole Miss will disappoint on a MSU board, but that opening part of their schedule is killer. I would pick us to struggle with that group of games. They have some good talent but still lack the depth that the big boys do to go through a stretch like that.

I too am really tempted to say this is USCe's year, I'm just not really sold on their offense.

aTm lost good talent from last year's squad.

I don't know that we think this is the "it" year, ask me after the season. 2014 may be "it". I think most rebel fans think 7-8 is realistic, and looking at the schedule, definately possible. What would a disappointing year be for state? 5-7? What would be a success? 7-5? I put you guys at 6-6.

Is this a joke? Ole Miss fans think EVERY year is the "It" year.

We sure didn't think last year was the "It" year. As a matter of fact, the last time I thought there was gonna be an "It" year was Nutt's second season after the first Cotton Bowl. We weren't the only ones that year. While it was a complete joke, we were ranked 4th in the nation at one point. Back to my point, I don't know anyone in our fanbase that expects 10 wins. May have heard a couple 9 win predictions. Speaking of "It" years, I seem to remember alot of state fans predicting ten wins last year. I'm not trying to stir the pot, just saying that its ridiculous to think that most Ole Miss fans expect ten wins. Not an accurate statement.

Name something I said that wasn't accurate in that thread. By the way, thanks for following me.

ETA: I guess you have to link threads from over there since you aren't allowed to come over there and spin them like you do over here, right? I hate it for you.

How bout from this thread?

Well, if the media predicts it... After all they have been dead on in the past to the tune of 10% or so...

Remember, the Rebels were expected to win 3-5 games last year, they blew everyones expectations out of the water. If they win the same ammount of games as they did last year, Hugh Freeze will have done exactly what he wanted to do. Use his first year as a building process, 2nd as an advancement year (7-8 wins in 2013 to improve on what was predicted to be a bad 2012 season) I expect the rebels to win exactly that, win 7-8 games. There is no way they drop below that margain, with a star studded recieving core, A healthy quarterback, and a competitive defence lead by Denzel, they are likely to finish 4-5 in the SEC West, if not better. hey, im just being realisitic.

Ya'll are jumping on the wrong rebel fans. Rebfan and Rebflow seem to be OK. And when you're picking surprises and disappointments, you sort of have to judge by expectations (media or whatever). Even though I think expectations AND the media are complete ****.

Pretty bold statement. I still think Georgia and Richt are too soft.

One thing Saban has been able to do is create an atmosphere of always wanting more at Alabama, and I must say, I am impressed by it. He's going to have them motivated to 3-peat, because nobody else has done it (I don't think). It's tough to keep your team motivated after a ch'ip (see Alabama 2010) but he assembled enough talent to simply out-man everyone the last two years. Now they've got a real goal in addition to the talent.

I don't see any way they don't win it all again.

Georgia was a couple of plays from winning it last year. If there's any back I want more than yeldon, it's gurley. Once gurley gets going and they play action with Murray, Georgia is going to be very tough to defend. Of course, bama will be too. I just think this us the year Georgia gets over the hump

UGA should be really, really good. However, if they don't toughen up vs the run, Bama will plow them under again this year...

Weren't they about 5 yards from beating Bama in the SECC? I would hardly say that was "plowing them under"....but your point is still taken, and I agree.

I am an Ole Miss guy and am not here to stir the pot as I don't want State to loose unless they are playing my Rebels but I think everything stays about the same this year with the only exceptions being Auburn and A & M. Auburn has talent and if they gel as a team they will be much better and if A & M can't get Manzeil under control I don't think he makes it through the year without being suspended or released all of Manziel's antics are too high profile and he will screw up big time before its over.
