The P5 team from NY does not have a single NY recruit!

Considering the enormity of the RU living alumni, RUs reach should be national and extend well beyond the footprint of the conference.

I'll be driving from NJ to California starting Sunday. I have a stack of about 30 block R magnets that will be left everywhere we go. I have no doubt that this will singlehandedly improve recruiting.
Now that's a ride. Are you driving straight through or touring along the way?

In one of Mike and Richie's recent podcasts the point was made that there is a lack of pride and identity within NJ with both the state and Rutgers. It has been interesting to see how as the football recruiting has expanded into the Midwest and South how frequently the recruits mentioned Rutgers Academic reputation and the business opportunities post football that existed in the NY/NJ area. Plus they have not been exposed to the constant negativity of the media and notably the star Ledger, it appears to make a difference.

Most people don't appreciate what they have until they experience other places. Only then do they realize they live in a unique place that is hard to match in what it offers.

Most people in NJ could care less about Rutgers sports. Throughout the state.

That includes many RU alums that have no connection to the sports team.

Sure RU FB will get a good chunk of bandwagon fans when they do well but if the team doesn’t sustain success they jump off the wagon

If NJ/Rutgers is such a pain to most people in NJ, why bother to live here or go to Rutgers? I'm sure they can find some private schools to cater to their ego and a place to live that turns out to offer less than NJ. 🥺

I said Rutgers. Not talking about NJ.

Almost everyone in NJ could care less about Rutgers sports. It’s just facts , I wish it were different.

Rutgers was late to big time college athletics, and has never had sustained success after it went big-time. Lots of NJ folks adopted other teams years ago and it often gets passed down generations. Hard to undo allegiances.
