In my section of 13 people at work, there are only 3 of us here today.

I wasn't real excited about it, but, after seeing the total eclipse for about 30 seconds in Lincoln, that was pretty cool! Lots of oohs and ahhhs from those around me. Even with the cloud cover it was pretty amazing.

It was cool, but not take off work, fly across the country, pay for an overpriced hotel cool.
It was amazing to see everything go dark quickly. Saw it in south Lincoln and the clouds did obscure part of it.

I saw it just fine on TV and the Jackson Hole webcams. Great view with no traffic....and I didn't need no steenking goofy eyeware.
It was cool being outside for 15 minutes during the peak time.
Thanks to the company for letting us go outside to experience the once or twice chance in a life time.

Yep. Missed driving for 3 hours to get there then another hour to try to find an opening in the clouds then another 4 hours to get home......yeah I missed "it". The video and pics were just fine. Looked cool and IF it had been easier for me to get to where I could see it in person I would have taken advantage of it but.......
Our local school system bought roughly north of a 1000 pairs of glasses and it was cloudy and raining all day...
watched it in Walton Nebraska. It was strange because when totality happened it all vanished. There was no ring, no sunshine period. All the photos we saw showed a ring during totality. There was nothing like that in Walton. There were 5 of us there and we all took off our glasses and tried to find the ring, sun, or moon and it was not there. No clouds at that time either. About 90 seconds later we started to see some light again. I am telling you there was nothing. strange.

Dear God the traffic jams afterwards though! I thought 138 across to Missouri and 29 north from there would be a route that would move. Took 3+ hours just to get to the Missouri River!

I'd gladly take that for an experience of a life time though. Lincoln was clouded... and a cloud obscured the exact precise moment of totality.

I saw it from a park in Beatrice itself (Chautauqua Park, about a mile south of downtown). Pretty nice park for a town that size.
The clouds were touch and go. It was cloudier up to the north, for sure. It didn't completely clear up, there were high clouds somewhat obscuring the sun when it got to be 1:02, but it was still visible enough. The way it got dark so quickly was something - Venus and a few stars were visible in the few areas where there weren't clouds. The locusts went crazy!
Definitely glad that I went. I should talk more about the eclipse than the traffic!
That's awesome, friend! I'm glad to hear your experience. Wasn't that sudden darkness so cool?!?! I was in awe haha.
My group of friends saw a star bit we don't know which it was. We were at work and we had a good time enjoying the eclipse.

If it was to the northwest of the sun - that was Venus. Sirius (star) was southwest, saw that too.
I'm driving from Denver to Cincinnati - Nebraska is a state I've always liked (aunt and uncle lived in North Platte for a time, now they're in San Diego). Obvious choice to see the eclipse from, take a detour up 77 from Kansas. Had to see the eclipse from a B1G state - Nebraska was it! (Hawkeye fans are my least favorite in the B1G, no joke, so I'm glad Iowa was shut out

Something tells me they went on and did other things besides just the eclipse. Tens of thousands of Europeans travel to the US on holiday every August. They often fly in to Omaha or Minneapolis and travel across Nebraska and South Dakota to see the various parks and sights along the way including the Sandhills, South Dakota Badlands, the Blackhills, and of course Yellowstone and the Tetons. Literally there are thousands of foreigners in Yellowstone on any given day in August. IF they flew all the way from Europe to see an eclipse, they have more time and money than I do.

Drove out to Ravenna and saw it from the State Park. It was pretty cool to see it since, other than the one coming in 2024 which will be over a days drive away, I won't see another. Hope it is something my kids will remember us doing.
