after just 2 more games. We'll finally have an SEC caliber QB that will give us a fighting chance to beat bammer. Yeah, we'll have to wait til 2010 but this time around it's really going to be exciting.

Era and the Derrick Taite Era coming to an end? Then 11 years ago, the Wayne Madkin Era? Nine years ago was supposed to be the start of the Kevin Fant Era?

Wash, rinse, repeat.

1. Can't run...but yes has an arm.... Got to run to be effective under our present offense.

2. Has a lot of maturing to do ( as do a lot of 17/18 year olds)

And this does not come from C34.

I hear that he isn't living up to his billing in practice, that our coach is not impressed with him, and he is not likely to be the next quarterback.

comng along quite nicely according to Les Koenning....yes, he has struggled some with the speed of things....but is not doing nearly as badly as some think. There is no guarantee he will be the starter, however. C Newton is a likely signee who will give TR all he wants. Whomever it is, Mullen will adapt the offense.

and make him better. But, I think most folks agree that if we get Newton, he is definitely the starter cuz he fits the offense Dan Mullen wants to run. Getting Newton allows Russell an additional year to mature and improve. If MSU doesn't sign Newton, then I am confident Coach Mullen will build an offense around what Tyler Russell can do well. Either way, we will have to be better at QB next year than this year. Tyson Lee is an unmitigated disaster. I am keeping my fingers crossed though hoping Newton signs with us. I think he instantaneously makes us at least a mid tier SEC offense all by himself, and if we can get improved WR play and adequate running back play, look out next year. 2 biggest needs for 2010: Cameron Newton Carl Torbush's replacement

about this. If he does come to MSU, what a huge immediate upgrade it will be. Like I said in another post, if we pull Newton and Vick Ballard, then we will be signing the nation's best Juco QB and RB in the same class. Not too shabby.

Let me put a switch on Coach34's statement:
Heard some more good news about it last night...Cam Newton is going to be our next QB...and I can't 17'ing wait

Do you still need clarification?

Taite, Madkin, and Fant are not in the same league as Newton.

We also didn't have a QB guru coaching them as well.

Thought when he stated he had heard some MORE good news that he may know something a little more detailed. Like he was planning to commit before his visit or he may be doing it right after his visit.

My point is some are hinging their hopes of the program on Tyler Russell (who does not fit the current system), while some are hinging their hopes on Cam Newton(who isn't even the fold yet). We have been down this road before where the Savior our of program is waiting in the wings for next year. Let's let one of these guys play a down before we start proclaiming him the next Tim Tivo.

And if I remember correctly, Madkin and Fant were both highly recruited.

my question is, is he available for 2nd semester entry/ Spring training? Do you know?

He has had some time in this O, but getting him here for Spring training is really really important.

but Newton was a lot more highly recruited than either Madkin or Fant.

I'm not proclaiming that he's the next Tim Tebow- and honestly I don't think very much of Tebow as a QB, he's a product of media hype and outstanding skill players- and I haven't seen anyone else do that either.

And I'm normally not the kind of person that gets all excited over any recruit, but I'm telling you, we've never had anyone even remotely close to this guy at MSU at the QB position. The other QB's we've had at MSU aren't even in this guys league.

As far as being a football savior, I think next year with Newton and what we have coming back, and the schedule we have, we will win eight games next year, and his senior year, I think we will win ten in 2011 if he stays healthy. Those are my expectations. We are going to be more of a passing team next year- we will still run the ball for sure, but you will see us throwing downfield more, and you will see us running more speed option stuff with the QB. It's going to be fun. Especially if we get a good DC.

saying Stansbury will never make a Sweet 16 is a prediction

saying Cam is coming to State is passing along news told to me from people who know about these things

..You don't know jack **** about what Cameron Newton is going to do.

Here the way your con game works:

You make some **** up about CN coming here, & if it happens, you invest your lucky guess as sixpack.com credit (to be withdrawn from the First Bank of Jackass everytime somebody calls you on your ********).

If Cam Newton never gets within 500 miles of the MSU campus, you go on & on about what a lying, two-faced ******* your reliable source is.

Perfect no fail set up for sixpack.com's foremost attention *****.

folks on this board are putting one QB down and hinging their hopes on a QB that has not even made it to campus. Heck, I want both of them on board and also Stegall all competing. I want to have so much competition that we don't have to discuss what it might be if we had a great QB.

What Mullen has said is that he will fit a system to the players... not the system like Croom use to demand.
