Whoever wins must lag putt well and hit 5 footers. Yes, the course is a "bombers paradise" but lots of guys can hit the ball a long way. Tiger will have a round where he just can't drain the 5 footers. I'm feeling a T22 for Tiger. But again, as most have said, who knows on this course.

He very well could shoot 80,80, but for some reason I've got a good feeling about Tiger this week.
That feeling is the only reason Tiger still remains relevant in these conversations. Eventually, that feeling is going to go away if Tiger does not get it together. I still think he misses the cut. His current game is not ready for this course.

Actually his game is better suited for this course than other US Opens. He can bomb away with a driver on a lot of holes and not have to worry about missing the fairway. If he doesn't have the yips, then he's got a short game advantage over the field as well. I've said for at least 5 years that Tiger's main issue in contending in Majors is that he hits it all over the map and that routinely knocks him out of contention. On this course, he's going to be able to keep it in play. And he's always a sufficient to fantastic iron player. I think he contends.

T22, Festivus? That's pretty damn specific. What is he going to shoot to be tied for 22nd?

What is the protocol/rules/etiquette for practice rounds? Those things must take 10 hours for some of the groups.

The yips wont matter in terms of short game this week as he will be putting 90% of the time. He should make the cut if he keeps his patience. He also went in for two days to study the course so i think he can play well this week i truly do.

Oh, I don't really have any idea. I just figure he will make the cut and have the imagination around the greens to shoot a four or five over on the weekend and move up some. I wouldn't be surprised if he slams trunk. We'll see.

I'm not sure what kind of premium will be on driving accuracy this week yet. There is no difference between the fairways and greens, except they are saying the fairways are actually harder and stimping more than the greens are. So if Tiger hits one 20 yards off his intended line no telling where it will roll out to.

Some of these guys may go insane playing this course under US open pressure this weekend.

Just noticed U.S. Open is on Fox Networks. Is this the 1st time Fox has done golf? Can not remember them doing one in the past.

First time for Fox. I think Norman is going to be good.

BTW, a great read is "Deane Beman, Golf's Driving Force." You may or may not agree with the direction he took the PGA Tour, but there are some great details in this book including TV contract negotiations. His thinking on a business model is very interesting.

I love Phil here. Bomber that gets in trouble with wayward tee shots into trees (no problem here). Great imagination and touch around the green. Very much needed here. It might be his best chance at a U.S. Open that he has left.

He could easily be -3, missed a 6-7 footer for bird on 2.

He loves this kind of **** where he can think and "see" things that nobody else does...

Looks like its playing fine. If it stays under control this will be a really good US Open.

Might just be television but fairways and greens look horrible.
Greens and fairways are all Fescue so you don't get the contrast between the different grasses. Fescue also browns where it is cut so being cut so close I can only assume that results in that look.

I remember some of the players making note of the fact that the course is quite a bit harder for afternoon rounds. We could see a flip flop of sorts on the leaderboard tomorrow.

2-5 shots is NOTHING on this course & in this tournament. That's one hole.

Gonna be interesting when the course starts to show it's teeth...maybe as early as this afternoon/evening.
