I think the team is now at a crossroads, the season could get ugly or it could be saved. The Vandy game is now the most important game for one reason...
Winning the Vandy game sets UK up for a bye week before Mississippi State. I believe that the momentum of beating Vandy is what can save the season or losing could end the season on spot.
The team is disorganized right now, they need some air and some time to get away for a restart. The fans are fed up and need something to get them back believing in the team/staff.
Beating Vanderbilt going into the bye week sets you up for 2 weeks of showdowns vs. Miss State and Mizzou. The extra week of rest and practice is needed now more than ever. Getting everyone healthy and mentally prepared during the two weeks leading up to Miss St. could be season changing. Coming off a win going into those weeks gives the guys motivation to go out and finish strong. It gives the coaches a chance to implement some new things and make some evaluations that are desperately needed.
It also comes at a time where it can setup a big home game for the fans. Winning 2 of 3 games against teams we SHOULD beat does not make UK world beaters, but it can gives us hope. If this team shows the fans they have a fight left, I think there could be a rocking crowd vs. Miss St. similar to SC back in 14'.
2 weeks to prepare, a motivated fanbase, and a Miss State team that looks beatable have the makings for a turnaround game. And if you win that game...momentum to go beat Mizzou or even a vulnerable UGA team is there for the makings. It's a chance to reverse the trend of the 2nd half slide of the last two years.
But it all starts with beating Vandy...because the most important part of this Vandy game...Big Blue Madness is during the bye week. If you lose that game the fan interest is gone and also all hope of a bowl. I really want Stoops to turn it around and hope he does it this year! Right now I believe Neal Brown, Kiffin, or Leach need the job in 2017...but hopefully Stoops can do it and we won't get to that point.
