SEC said they were evaluating it. P4 is still evolving too. Everything could change again in another year. Everything is still pretty fluid with it all.So why didn't they eliminate it when they went to 9 games.

I haven't seen that. Only thing I've seen is that they're requiring it. No reason for us to cancel the WSU series if there's no P4 mandate.SEC said they were evaluating it
It's still there, they just said they were evaluating it with the schedule change. We're doing this for home games.I haven't seen that. Only thing I've seen is that they're requiring it. No reason for us to cancel the WSU series if there's no P4 mandate.
They evaluated it and kept it. They can reevaluate it in 4 years if they want to, but they'll still keep it. So much more money to be made playing Minnesota or Texas Tech than playing USM and Troy. It's still there, they just said they were evaluating it with the schedule change. Source? It's still there, they just said they were evaluating it with the schedule change. We're doing this for home games.
No, they said said they would be evaluating it but no change this season. They evaluated it and kept it. They can reevaluate it in 4 years if they want to, but they'll still keep it. So much more money to be made playing Minnesota or Texas Tech than playing USM and Troy.
Here's what they actually said:No, they said said they would be evaluating it but no change this season.
Schools must annually schedule at least one additional high-quality non-conference game from the Atlantic Coast, Big Ten or Big 12 conferences or Notre Dame.
Strength of Schedule (CFP Participation)
- The College Football Playoff has adjusted its schedule strength metric to apply greater weight to games against strong opponents. An additional metric rewards teams for defeating high-quality opponents while minimizing the penalty for losing to such a team.
- An additional SEC game, combined with the A4 non-conference scheduling requirement, improves these strength of schedule metrics for every SEC school to enhance consideration in the CFP selection process.
PurdueGood deal.
Unless it is something special, say kick off classic verse ND in Ireland, we shouldn't play a non conference game on the road at all.
A home and home verses, ASU, NC State, FSU. PSU, etc., especially the first game of the year, I can live with.
I would love a home and home with ND, they seem to get upset on the reg.
My Bad. I did not realize that Wash State is no longer in a big conference. They’ll be replaced by a P4 team. Step up in competition, not down.
Yeah, the Pac-12 will not be considered a Power conference going forward and it’s far enough in the future that I doubt we got a waiver for them. This is the equivalent of us dropping a home and home with South Alabama. My Bad. I did not realize that Wash State is no longer in a big conference.
Yeah, It’s still strange to realize they’re not. But them & Oregon St got left behind when the PAC12 fell apart. My Bad. I did not realize that Wash State is no longer in a big conference.
As a Bulldog living in NC, please, please, please.Just speculating here but with Selmon’s ties, wouldn’t be shocked to see us schedule a home and home with Wake Forest or UNC.
Yep…dumb! We should never be doing that.Who is the idiot that scheduled a road game at Troy?
I’d be good with that.Just speculating here but with Selmon’s ties, wouldn’t be shocked to see us schedule a home and home with Wake Forest or UNC.
Just flew in and out of Spokane for a cousin's wedding in MT. Spokane was okay, but Coeur D'Alene, ID and Glacier Nat'l Park in MT (about a 4h drive) were gorgeous. I'm a bit sad we're canceling this series as I was going to use as an excuse to go back to Glacier NP.Washington State a scenic trip? I haven’t been TO Pullman, but I HAVE been on the Palouse. It’s only scenic from the Snake River. Otherwise it’s a hilly Kansas. It’s different, and absolutely beautiful in it‘s own way while passing through. But “PASSING THROUGH“ are the operative words. Y‘all know how I feel about Mike Leach, but what he was able to do there really was spectacular. That place is WAY farther out in the boonies than Starkville.
I’d like that…Just speculating here but with Selmon’s ties, wouldn’t be shocked to see us schedule a home and home with Wake Forest or UNC.

If that's the case we need to cancel the future series with Memphis and Southern Miss since those are home and home series. As of now they're on the schedule for a home and home. I'd bet money that's cancelled though. Our choices are either a lot of 6 home game schedules or no more road games at G5 schools.
Kinda wild we have to drop Wazzu but would meet our schedule needs by picking up Wake Forest.Yeah, the Pac-12 will not be considered a Power conference going forward and it’s far enough in the future that I doubt we got a waiver for them. This is the equivalent of us dropping a home and home with South Alabama.
We’ll replace them with somebody from the ACC, Big 12, or Big Ten.
Memphis won't do a 2 for 3 with anybody any more. They only do home & away, one for one series. Even if it's Ohio State or Alabama. If that's the case we need to cancel the future series with Memphis and Southern Miss since those are home and home series.
If Memphis wants to play SEC teams in the future, it will be on the road. Only thing that might save the series with us is we’ve got 7 home games the year we go to Memphis. If we can’t reschedule the Texas Tech series, we’re stuck with only 6 home games either way.Memphis won't do a 2 for 3 with anybody any more. They only do home & away, one for one series.
