We will know after this week about Sycamorenow Hillcrest played Rich Central second game of the year maybe first game of the year not sure, and beat them 27-14 or something like that. We played Rich Central and smoke them 34 to 6 giving up a touchdown in the last 2 minutes without our starting D.. I know it was the beginning of the year and things change. Morris I think is 4a. Could be wrong..and projections have us 6a. Metamora ,Highland(never heard of sorry) and Washington is a city school who has not really played anyone decent other than another city school who has since dropped from top 10. Montini I hear is real good and you can never count out JCA. it will be interesting to see how everything plays out in the next couple weeks.
Again the Montini love! LOL. Let’s see if they are #1 in 5A in 4 weeks after LA, BR and PC. Don’t get me wrong solid team that will go far in 5A and possibly win it all. I’d personally watch out for Hillcrest.1 Lombard Montini
2 Sterling
3 Sycamore
4 Washington
5 Country Club Hills (Hillcrest
6 Maple Park Kaneland
7 Metamora
8 JCA
9 Morris
10 Highland/Woodstock Marian (tie)
(Just my thoughts compared to the AP)
Thank you thank you for clarifying that up about Washington. I thought they were a city school. Have they played anyone decent??

Have you seen Highland play? If so, what game?
Highland lost a close one to Rochester.in semis.... same as last year, I think they went 9-0 but got knocked out early.
I'm high on hillcrest right now. I think I might like them more than Sycamore and Sterling, but I understand why you would put them at 5
My bad, I was going by memory and had Highland confused with HillcrestHighland lost a close one to Rochester.in semis.
Montini #1.....based on beating who? Maybe they are a great team but.......
Morris gave Rochester all they coukd handel in the state final game and went 6-3 in our conferenceHighland lost a close one to Rochester.in semis.

No, I haven’t seen Highland play anyone in person but I’ve seen film, I’m basing this on who they have played and they haven’t played anyone, same as last year, I think they went 9-0 but got knocked out early. Washington is near Peoria, they have a solid team and only have 2 decent teams on there Schedule, Morris and Metamora, they beat Morris who is down this year by a couple of touchdowns, I’m not sure why they have been ranked no1 all year by the AP because I think there are a few schools just as good or better, Montini being one of them. Take this for what it is, just a middle aged man giving my opinion, and my opinion I feel is more knowledgeable than the AP lol we will see come playoff time if Highland deserves a higher ranking.
I know, my point was Highland went undefeated in regular season in their conference, Morris went 6-3 in NIB 12 Both lost to Rochester. In a close game, making my point that NIB 12 is a tough conference, If Highland had to play Sterling, Sycamore, Kaneland Dekalb, Geneseo etc.. I don’t think they would be 9-0 in the regular season or 5-0 right nowJust to be on the same page both Highland and Morris lost to Rochester.
I have a ton of respect for Montini but at this point in the season, Montini schedule is the definition of playing nobody yet you have them number 1.
I didn’t say I based anything on last years team? I said I based it on who they have played.Basing anything on last year's teams for anything in high school is not very sound logic. Alot can change with graduations and underclassmen coming up.

Of the top teams shown, JCA probably has played the toughest schedule but of course everything is relative. So who would you put ahead of them?
What exactly does Montini gain from SterlingWarrior's "opinion" that they're on top of the list?
NOTHING!
You only play the teams on your schedule and those that will be in your class come season end. It's not like you can "prove" they deserve to be #1 by who they beat or didn't beat. Even if you could make a case, it still means NOTHING!
Who in 5A has played anyone of note and beaten them?

Highland has a beat a 7A team who will make the playoffs, an 8A school that plays tough schools like Edwardsville and ESTL, another 5A school that will make the playoffs. I think they would do just fine in the NIB 12.
It doesn’t count for anything alright. But it does tell you something else!!! LolNot sure what that even means? So if I schedule the five toughest teams in the state and I'm 0-5 is that supposed to count for something?
Alright I'm going back to just lurking. I don't understand anything anyone says any more :-(It doesn’t count for anything alright. But it does tell you something else!!! Lol

Would anyone in 5a be better than 3-2 with JCA's schedule? Not sure what that even means? So if I schedule the five toughest teams in the state and I'm 0-5 is that supposed to count for something?
Only problem with that is the linemen usually take a pounding and possibly nothing left in the tank for playoffs. But I see your point. Nothing better then EARNING it.I like the philosophy of playing the biggest sons on guns you can and see if you make the playoffs and go from there.
There are always teams who are 6-3/ 5/4 that play top tier schedules and do very well in the playoffs. Then there are teams from weaker conferences who are 9-0/8-1 and don’t do great. So it has always been my opinion that your conference plays a huge roll in the type of team you’ll be in the playoffs. Now with that said some teams are just downright good and would be competitive in any conference. I think someone said JCA played the Toughest schedule and I’d agree with that. At the end of the year if JCA makes it to the playoffs they will be a hard out in 5a and same goes for Montini.
