I'll jump in and donate some to whomever if needed, too, Missouri; but with a stipulation.
You have to pull for the Cubs to win a game this year. Just one. Against anybody. At any time. That won't kill ya, will it?
Seriously, just let us know how all this turns out.

That will be easy for him when we are 60-80 in early September and playing the Reds or Pirates.

Y'all leave the guy's personal stuff out of it even it's readily available on the internet. If people want to google it themselves, that's fine.

I wholeheartedly second this.

The objective of my original post was to simply inform the SPS community that TheRavishinOne isn't a trustworthy guy.

I have no desire for retaliation or anything crazy like that. I just want to make sure no one here makes the same mistake that I did.

TheRavishinOne has bought tickets from me on here before and was true to his word. To say he is a totally untrustworthy guy wouldn't be fair. Just call it a deal that fell through. Don't have a clue who he is, just sharing an experience I've had with him.

Carry on.

I'm sure he 's a great guy but he should pay missouri and deal with the tickets himself.

Exactly. You just don't stick a guy who did you a big favor with $400 worth of tickets he can't use.

Reb fan here who registered just to reply to this thread.

First, Ravishin should have honored his word. Like you said SPS isn't eBay or Craigslist.

With that said, I love the idea of donating them. I know you said you're in Houston, TX, so donating them there is kind of pointless. I'd like to encourage you to find a good, MS charity (if you can't sell them). I know there are a number of special needs charities across the state that would appreciate being able to take some of their special individuals to the game. From the support of this thread it appears that others would be willing to donate tickets or money for expenses for such a trip.

Just wanted to throw that out there.

He bought a set from me as well. Was true to his word.

It just might be a simple thing of what he considers to be fair. He might think it's ok to stick someone if an emergency came up where as others would pay for them and try to sell them on their own. To me, once you give the go ahead, you owe the $$.

I've sold tickets for a buddy of mine on here for years. I make them pay first and then my buddy mails the tickets once I get the money and address. I hold the money until they email me back saying they got them in the mail.

Good news. I figured you wouldn't have any trouble selling them. Sucks that you had to though.

This thread got me thinking. Would it be too late for SPS to buy so e tickets and donate them to St. Jude or another charity near Memphis that could take some people who could really use a nice holiday surprise?

If this is too difficult to do on a whim, maybe we could plan better next time and get something going prior to the bowl being announced.

I was thinking this also. Should SPS start donating a couple of bowl tickets each year? I mean, we go all the time now. Could be a nice thing for us to get some kids in whichever town were playing in to the game. We could probably collect enough to cover tickets and some spending cash for food/t-shirts/etc. for a few.

i would gladly lead this charge and do all the leg work. I'm out of pocket all day,but if there is enough interest I'll start collecting money for this tomorrow.

I don't consider SPS to be the "random stranger" type of environment that an e-bay or other forms of transactions can be. SPS is a community that is brought together by everyone's love for MSU here and I kind of hold that sacred

I have handled things this way with my tailgate sales this year. I set up tailgates every home game this season and just trusted someone I had never met would show up with the money. I didn't get burned a single time. Also, dawgstudent let me pay him at the end of the season instead of week by week and I didn't burn him. I hate to see the mutual respect broken here...sorry you got burned missouridawg, but thankfully from my experience this is the exception to the rule. I think most on here are honest folk.

About two weeks ago, he/she inquired about my BDC rank and if I would buy 4 tickets for them since my BDC standing is decent. I obliged and reserved 4 tickets to the tune of $240. The conversation started with me stating:

The RavishinOne then stated:

I responded with :

TheRavishinOne responded with:

Now that I've been stuck with the bill for the tickets, The RavishinOne says:

I just wanted everyone on here to know that TheRavishinOne is a piece of **** and not good for his word. I hope you all avoid dealing with him in what I once considered a safe place to make transactions such as this. I've learned my lesson.

Strictly from his words, it doesn't necessarily sound like he's going to stiff you. Yes, he's apologizing, but it could be he's apologizing for asking you to try and sell them to someone else first. The last sentence says he "appreciates your help". To me, that's him/her acknowledging the tickets are his/her responsibility if you're unable to sell them elsewhere.

Were it me, I'd have responded with a, "I'll try to find another buyer, as should you, but need you to confirm you are ultimately responsible for payment if we can't find a buyer. Even if you were to sell them at a discount rate, it won't cost you that much."

I'll be honest, that'd make me real sheepish if I was the buyer. I wouldn't hand over $500 for 2 tickets well in advance and try to hold the seller to anything... I'm not giving my money away up front, and I'm definitely not giving him any more than face value of the tickets and expecting a refund. That's just asking for trouble, IMO.

If I were the seller, here's how I'd handle it:
1. Offer to buy tickets and sell them for my asking price (in this case, face value + shipping)... Everything Mizzou did up front
2. Ravishing offers to buy said tickets
3. I would not purchase a thing until AFTER the bowl games were announced (make that abundantly clear, too).
4. Confirm Ravishing still wants tickets... he did ask first.
5. Make him send the money and confirm you have that, turn around an immediately purchase said tickets and send Ravishing a confirmation

Simply, I'm not one to hold anyone's money for them, nor am I going to give anyone money ahead of time (ESPECIALLY more... trusting the buyer to give me the difference back).

Internet business is very very tricky and this stuff happens all the time...

ETA: I want to make it clear I'm not sticking up for anyone here... I'm offering a suggestion/perspective on how I'd handle the situation. Mizzou, I think Ravishing owes you the money you invested since he did explicitly say he'd pay for it. It should be up to him to sell them and get his money back. His word is as good as a contract, IMO.

This is why you always use Pay Pal. If you don't receive your item, you have 45 days from the day you paid the money to make a complaint to Pay-Pal and Pay-will freeze his money until he shows proof that you got the item. Pay pal will give him 15 days to respond. If he does not pay pal will refund the money to you and then go after the other guy.
