I'm just really that stupid. Points aren't deducted for a loss anymore, so I don't know why you think that an undefeated team cannot be surpassed.

It's theoretically possible, but there's no will among the voters to put Auburn over Ohio State. The computers might be about even, but the human voters (2/3) are going to be overwhelmingly Ohio State.
