We seem to be the only team where the media ranks our opponents in week 13, not the week we actually play them.

Also.... I love Herbie crying about the circumstances of Ohio States loss... Little *****.

Fsu beat Clemson (ranked team) without Winston. How come Ohio state can't beat a team wake forest beat with a new qb?

Jeff Long just said they take into consideration where teams were ranked when we played them. So obviously the committee is smarter than the talking heads, which is good.

Hopefully next week LSU and Arky will be top 25, Ole Miss will stay in and we'll be 4-1 vs. top 25 and everyone can kiss our ***.

We also play in a division where everyone has a legitimate chance to beat each other. Plus every team in the division is going bowling. No other division EVER has been able to claim that.

They would have to look at where they were ranked when the game was played. For example, say we beat a #8 team; that #8 team won't be a Top 10 team after we beat them. So should we lose just so we could say they were Top 10? I don't think so.

Just looked at the 3 teams who were Top 10 when we played them: A&M, Auburn, and LSU. Every game they have lost has been to current Top 25 teams, except LSU's loss to Arkansas, and they should be ranked (certainly based on Herbstreit's criterion of how much a team has improved). Not only that, almost all the losses have been to SEC-West teams. We can only play 6 other West teams ... somebody has to lose.

Ordinarily, FSU's OOC schedule would be really strong, but this year Notre Dame, Oklahoma St, and Florida just aren't very good. The only constant cream puff team is the Citadel. They have no choice but to play in their conference, and it's always weak with the exception of "sorta good" Clemson and Ga Tech. Regardless, they play who they play, and their schedule this year is much, much easier than ours, regardless of what ESPN's power index says.

Barrett Sallee says that's a bad idea. Bruce Feldman says that shows favoritism to preseason rankings. None of them seem to care that Herby keeps bringing up when Ohio State's loss occurred. Again, to mother 17ing Virginia Tech.

If Ohio State wants to be in the playoff 4, then they should have beat Va Tech. Even if they won, it wouldn't be a "good" win this year. But it's certainly a bad loss. I'm surprised they're even in the Top 10.

This is a great point and I hope the committee takes a deep look at it. We will have a bunch of 8-4 teams that would be Top Ten in any other conference. Look at the losses, they are all to each other. The only kink in this is the fact that Texas A&M lost to Missouri, which lost to Indiana. We really need Arkansas to polish off Missouri Friday.

Any team that lost to Virginia Tech this year should never even get a sniff of the playoff. That is a horrendous loss and nothing will ever justify it. Some of these media guys are simply making themselves look like idiots trying to justify a loss to f'n Virginia f'n Tech. Out of Baylor, Ohio State and TCU, I think 2 or all 3 will end up losing in the next two weeks.

SEC West is 38-3 vs teams outside the west, with two of those losses coming against the #8 team and one against the #17 team.

Toughest division in the history of college football.

I'd have a lot more respect

for these asshats if they would just come out and say, "We don't like Mississippi State, we don't want them in the playoff. They aren't one of the household name teams that we always support." 17 this strength of schedule, when we played who, and the other ******** they spout. Tell the damn truth Herbie.

we all get pissed at herbstreit, but he is a freaking former ohio state player. of course he is going to play them up as much as he can and accentuate the positive. if we had a guy with a national spotlight, i would expect him to attempt to sway the public if it is within reason, which it is, considering we have the same record. he is just plugging his school. if we dont make it, i dont think it will be to the likes of osu. that va tech loss looks fugly as ****.

Herbstreit has never liked the underdog, non name-brand programs. Remember a couple of years ago when Northern Illinois made the BCS and Herbstreit went off and ripped them mercilessly? Now, people can disagree about Northern Illinois being worthy enough to be in a BCS bowl, but Herbie went over the top with a completely unprofessional rip job, which pissed me off and I don't give a rat's *** about Northern Illinois. He wants to see big names Alabama, Oregon, Florida State and Ohio State in the playoff, and little old Mississippi State (and TCU or Baylor for that matter) would upset the brand name order. Herbstreit, and many others, don't want to see that happen.
