Not that we will find out but could you imagine the hotel costs in Starkville? Hilton Garden Inn $900 two night minimum. Hell if we are preseason top 15, they’ll probably make those dates non refundable to stop people from booking at low prices in July. It will be like Pensacola Beach for Blues Weekend.

ETA: I didn’t even think about if it was a home basketball weekend. Then again, the NFL will probably claim Saturdays so the games will be on a Tuesday night.

You just said #5-#8 would have a hard time. Ohio State would have been #6 if they used the current seeding last year, so ultimately, a 5-8 seed (under both seeding structures) won it all, thus refuting your original statement.

Agree, except I'd be OK throwing G5 a bone for 1 of the 8. But like you say, it's a race to the next higher number. 12, soon to be 14, and not long until 16 or 24. 15 years from now we'll probably be at 32, if not 48.
