I've tried to research thoroughly before making this prediction. I've also made it to a few games outside of just the Maroon tide games. Gentleman I think it could be the Galax Maroon tide that pulls it out. I believe riverheads is just a little off this year. I do believe that Essex is a clear threat I'm sure many have Essex ahead of Galax. I think we can take them and anyone else this year with no turnovers and ball control.

It's very exciting for the boys of fall.

1A is down this season. Not saying that’s why they will win it but GALAX WILL WIN IT ALL!!!

A lot of football to be played yet, they need to beat rival Grayson this week to secure home field. I'm not saying they won't or can't win it all but they are young and need to take it one game at a time. As for RH being down they have lost to very good teams and that might just light a fire in them that can't be put out and Essex and Sussex are going to be very tough outs as well some others form the east. Im hoping to watch Galax win it all in Salem but like I said their is a lot of football to be played yet.

Galax has good team and getting better. Chilhowie and Narrows decent teams. Rest of West or now C and D are down. JIB, Hurley, GW and PM are down compared to last 2-3 years. Loosing Haysi, Clintwood, Radford and FC doesn’t help. A and B right now seems to have 5 good teams. CB, Essex, Sussex, WC and Riverheads. Maybe WP. This year in A and B, Altavista, Franklin and Lunenburg(though maybe coming on) are down.

I think they handle Grayson with no trouble at all. Galax will win this game by 21

I would venture to say there are only 2 maybe 3 teams at best, that have a real shot at winning it all. Galax is the only real threat in the west and 2 in the east, Essex and Sussex. LoL!! JMO, dont anyone get bent out of shape.
I was just curious why you thought it was down. I think there are several teams that have under performed from what they have done in the past and what is expected of them. I also think there are some teams that have done a little better. I think there are about 4 teams with a shot. Essex, Sussex Central, Riverheads, and Galax.

Riverheads #4 is where I have them . They are a shell of last years team . The last two games show me they will only win games when their opponent makes big mistakes . This is really a rebuild year for them . Next year they should return to form . Should be a good second season and hope everyone stays healthy . Not sure why Riverheads has gone to the spread this late in the season ?

I think that this is a fair assessment. I do believe WC might be stronger than some give them credit but time will tell. As for the other cast of characters I agree that there are 4-5 that can win it. RH is not overpowering like last year but will make a decent run in the playoffs. Good luck to all and stay healthy this last week.

Spread, lol... you too funny

It is going to be interesting to say the least. On the one hand, I wonder how Riverheads could lose to either an Essex or a Sussex after the way they thoroughly trounced each one of them in last year's playoffs. But then I say to myself........Look at RE Lee.....Riverheads beat them 35-0 in last year's season opener but lost 23-7 this year. So that means that one year really CAN make a difference. Of course, what we all should be telling ourselves is that you don't look ahead, you play one game at a time. So Riverheads will have to get past some old familiar faces from Region B (Altavista, William Campbell, maybe even Lunenburg) before they can even THINK about one of the Ex's.

The thing about the top 5 or 6 so that most have posted about (Colonial Beach, Essex, Galax, Riverheads, Sussex and William Campbell), Galax wont need to worry about only one of the other 5 until Salem if Galax comes our the West. CB, Essex and Sussex will be knocking one another out and RH and WC will knock the other out. Then Region A & B Champs will knock one out that will leave one to face Galax. Even if Northumberland, West Point or Washington & Lee make a deep runs, that’s still 6 good teams all in Region A that will be knocking one another out until it gets to one standing in Region A. As for top level teams, that’s a big hit for Region A and the NND who will have 4 teams in the playoffs so far at this point.

I do wonder if we will see any first round "upsets" that was always something to look for the first weekend. I think it happened more in the west. We had gotten some unfamiliar matchups with 16 teams in the west. 12 in the East that allowed for some good games. I know some were also one sided blowouts though. With 4 regions it is going to lead to several rematches. Especially in C and D where they draw from 2 and 3 districts. Those teams have already played one another once.

Going to be lots of rematches here in Region A as well. Just going on who people say will be in the top 8 in Region A, Essex has already played 4 of the top 8 (Sussex, Northumberland, Colonial Beach, W&L). Could be a 5th team depending on how games turn out Friday.

Not looking over Grayson at all. The veer will be in full force. I just can't see a loss for the Maroon tide.

Galax will get Grayson’s best shot. Grayson with a loss and Richlands winning may keep Grayson out of the playoffs.

Spread? They were in the double wing-T the last game I watched.

Galax will skip and giggle to Salem there isn't a team in C or D that is within 3 TDs of them. Which may hurt them a little cause who ever is across the field that day is gonna be LEGIT. But trust me the Tide will be playing ball in December if they aren't I'll be beyond shocked.

We just Picked the worst time of the year to play one of our worst games. I think it's obvious and clear that your witnessed a Maroon tide team that was looking ahead.

I still think we're in the mix and we are certainly a top 4 team. I just hope we can have a short memory and move on from this.

Good game Grayson.

So with all the talk about how vulnerable Galax is now, how about Grayson? Who do they face in round 1 and do THEY have a shot?

Fort beat the cleats off of Grayson, Galax beat them off of The Fort and just in case you missed it. Grayson barely beat Galax, no cleats this time but a win is a win.

On a more serious note. It’s really nice to know a few people were thinking about me after that game. I know now, when I’m not here. I am greatly missed, thanks for all the love.

That may be a stretch to say Galax is "vulnerable". It was great game to watch as a spectator but Galax should have won the game and had every opportunity to do so but obviously did not. The fumbled punt in the 4th that allowed Grayson to tie the game was a killer. I thought going for the win in OT as Dixon did was a great call and the play worked perfect but the kid just did not hang on to the football and so here we are. That is what makes the game of football so great. I think Grayson is a solid, physical team and made the plays needed to win and would not be surprising if they do well in the 2A playoffs. IMO I think the way Galax was pounding on teams it gave this young squad a false sense of invincibility and last night was a wake up call. I feel certain Dixon and that coaching staff will have them well prepared and eyes wide open moving forward. Things are about to get real. Good luck to all teams that made the playoffs.

I'm very happy to see Narz get the #1 seed and home field advantage, but I still think Galax is the favorite in that game.
