Auburn fans aren't the only SEC fans in Alabama that are batshit crazy.

The only difference between them and teenage fans of Justin Bieber...

is a penis and 150 pounds. The mental capacity is pretty much on equal footing.

If you had

to pick a single photo to describe alabama fans, the one of the grown men SPRINTING to get his autograph would be one of the more appropriate ones. They take redneck to a whole other level.

The Gumps on the Rant say they make thousands of dollars selling that stuff at Gump meets and eBay. EL-Oh-EL if anybody thinks any of that stuff is sold. That's **** they pass down to children.

I noticed yesterday that on Matt Wyatt's Facebook post about leaving games early someone named Namath something posted "Roll Tide." Seriously, someone actually named their child Namath. And the funny thing is he apparently has no clue just how sad that is.

How many families you know with a Peyton in it. I know at least 5 and they are all OM fans. I wonder sometimes if they realize Peyton didn't play at OM.

Peyton is a pretty common Waspy name these days.

Plenty of people are named Peyton with zero reference to the Manning one. Not many people are named Namath without it being a reference to Broadway Joe. Naming a dog after a player, school, mascot, whatever is one thing, but naming a child is something entirely different. It shows a different level of low class to do that.

The Kick Six Gump Run video is by far the best though.

And yes, there are a lot of people who do get those autographs for the purpose of selling them. I don't think most of the Gump Runners were that type though.

I went to our Meet the Rebels fan day last year with my kids. The lines were so long for any of the tables that I didn't even try to take the kids through a line. My daughter just wanted to be there to see people, and my son is too young to care, so I was able to get away with just taking my daughter to get the cheerleader autographs (yes they had their own table, I assume for the benefit of girls like my daughter).

They have limits on how many items you can get signed by a player for that reason though. There are people who will come with a bunch of items, stand in line and try to get specific autographs to sell on eBay. I don't know what the market is like for that, but I can't imagine the return being all that great, or worth the trouble of standing in all those lines.

My guess is that the market for Saban autographs is pretty good though. Either way, I blame the internet and eBay for ruining those fan days.

When I was a kid, they used to only have tables for a handful of the star players, and the only reason that was done was to make sure they didn't spend the entire day swamped with people 8 deep. Every other player just mingled with the fans. If you were a kid, you could spend a good bit of time talking to the players and really getting a need experience for a young kid. These days, the autograph sellers have ruined it to the point that everyone has to have a controlled table environment with autograph limits. Even freaking Korvic Neat was sitting behind a table, and even though he was much better than Bumphis*, there was no need for that.

To be honest,

I'm sure they can sell it for a good deal of money. Think about it. There are lots of fatass gumps that probably didn't make it and will pay top dollar for Saban's autograph.

I'm one of those people that thinks its really ridiculous for a grown man to buy

and wear a replica jersey of a teenager, I just don't get it. Put a checkmark by my name as also thinking that its worse to wear a replica fvcking helmet as you sprint down the field to get a damn signature. I don't get autographs either, never asked for one never will but if any of you think that dude w/ the helmet will ever sell a Saban signature your are sadly mistaken.

I was going to name my first born Marcus Bullard if he had not thrown the syracuse game. The drug charges and eventual pistol whippings I was ready to forgive, but not that.

I have never really got into getting autographs either and think its a bit ridiculous for middle aged adults to wear replica jerseys but wearing a helmet is just weird. I have asked for and received two autographs in my lifetime both when I was much younger. One was a hat signed by Ron Polk and the other was from Jerry Clower.

Yeah it is a double edged sword.......

its gotta be an inside joke with the coaches how insane that fanbase is.

They can turn against you with that same fervor.

I have also thought that the extreme element of that fanbase has to be exasperating and more than a bit embarrassing at times particularly for a no nonsense guy like Saban.

That bunch really has more that their share of loons. Case in point, how many fanbases feature a former peace officer who essentially threw his life away just to get back at a rival for disrespecting THE STATUE of a former coach who's been dead for 30 years. And his excuse? I just got too much alabama in me. You just cannot make this stuff up!

I love State and passionately follow the Bulldogs but I can unequivocally and without reservation tell you that athletics will never ever mean that much to me and that includes the ones sprinting to worship Saban too. It is sad really.

Don't be to hard on these guys. Most of them have never been to a big city like Tuscaloosa before.
