Rated a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, Scout.com, ESPN.com and 247Sports . . . The 24th-best running back prospect in the country according to
247Sports

I would think that the 24th best running back in the country would be better than a 3 star. How many 5 star players are there? How many 4 star players?

there are only a select number of 5-star players- more 4-star guys than 5-star- more 3-star than 4-star...and so on

the number of players in each level increases as you drop. And depending on the year- just depends where the cutoff for a certain player at a position would be

It just seems that the 24th best running back in the nation would be higher than a 3 star

I believe there is only 50 total 5* prospects each year. Throughout the year some fall out of the top 50 and others rise. <div>There is something like 150 4* prospects and 1000 3*. Something like that.</div>

For Rivals' 2013 rankings, they only have 17 total 5 star players. Only 2 of those 5 star players are running backs. They have 20 4 star running backs.

There are too many 3 star players to easily count.

the 24th best recruit would be around the 90th best RB on the field. That sounds like 3 stars to me.
