Yeah, 4* kids from LSU, Ark, and Nebraska does have a better ring to it than high 2* hopefuls from Kennesaw State and Old Dominion.

Honestly, if his model is separating dumb UM alums from their $$$ at an alarming rate and providing some non-playoff bowl in return, mark me in favor of this continuing to happen. I hope MSU gets its house in order and is competitive again real soon, but that's completely independent of me enjoying asking my UM friends if they really spent $15MM to go to the Gator Bowl.
Ole Miss was a play or two away from the playoffs this year. Their schedule sets up for them to be in a similar spot next year. When they make the playoffs, any hope of Mississippi State ever being an SEC contender is over.

This will continue until 4-5 years of disappointing seasons, then money will dry up. Because college football is exclusively about the checks written these days (at least the vast majority).

This board has a long history of Ole Miss fans jumping on and 'concern trolling'. It doesn't happen as often as it used to, but it does still happen and it's usually a "New Member" that comes on and either puts down State or praises Ole Miss. Your first post, New Member, did both.

Here are my points of contention with your previous post, vis-a-vis your claims of being an avid reader:
1. There is absolutely ZERO chance anyone here is going to "grow up". We are obviously fighting against that. An avid reader should know that.

2. You obviously don't know what sarcasterisks are. That right there gives you the smell of someone not from around these parts.
I'm sorry, these are just facts.
No idea if you were around back then, but this board was built during an era of suckitude similar to the one we're facing now. Suckitude seems to bring out message boarders. Plus, if he is an Ole Miss troll, seasoned posters should easily be able to deal with him appropriately.
It's funny too, because back in the old days, there was also a lenience toward Ole Miss posters from the long time posters, and I'm starting to see that makes its way into my mind too. I have no desire to engage in the eggbowl.com crap. It wasn't until 2008/2009 (and really a few years after that) that the rivalry started heating up and the Ole Miss guys ultimately got run off. Of course, they are good now, so that's a major difference. And many of our fans obsess over them so it's only natural that we're going to get a few more posters. And due to the aforementioned good fortune of Ole Miss....the new posters are likely going to be of the genespage variety.
It's not even worth arguing, but I think athletic departments paying players is a bigger change than fans paying players through NIL, which previously happened under the table.
