See? You’re trying to think for other people. That’s not what most of us want. That’s not individual liberty.
But we can’t just realize these are conditions that warrant these decisions? We have to throw stones at the lobsterbacks that are imposing empire on our city? It’s come to that? After a month? Of pretty lax restrictions nationwide? I mean, hey, I’ll grab my rifle and join up with the militia right now if that’s what the patriots are calling for?

I mean, seriously, start watching breaking bad again on Netflix, and when it’s done, I bet we are on a better place to make decisions.

I want to be clear, I’m chilling because it’s what I want to do because it’s what I feel is best based on the information I have. Make no mistake, if I decided I wanted to do something else, the Govt wouldn’t be stopping me. I’ll not begrudge anyone else for making a different decision especially if they’re being prohibited from earning a wage or putting food on their table by the means of their choosing.

I’m young and healthy. I’m not afraid of this thing. And given different circumstances, wouldn’t really care how many other people died if I needed to provide for my family.

Uh Oh. You may have another secret virus that there's not treatment for or vaccine. Time to shut down more ****.
Is it financial pressure? Is it cabin fever? Is it fear of losing your rights? Is it fear of your financial future? Are you out of beer?

I think motivation is important to look at in all decisions here, and let’s try to find ways to get through this well. All the “we will win” talk goes right out the door when the beer runs out doesn’t it?

So you would have burned your draft card then?

If you aren't happy in America, you should move to a socialist/communist country, not join the leftists in trying to destroy ours.Men and women died to keep our freedom and liberties and you are okay with that being in vain by handing it all over to a leftist government?

I'm respecting the various leader's direction and believe the government has full power to enact actions to protect the citizens and country. This has been proven time and time again with various court rulings and to date, I don't see any governmental agencies that have overstepped other than a possible execution of a policy here and there. Exceptions will always be the case to any action. Perfection is not achievable.

I am very concerned about this virus and believe all should be as well and I'm not the type that is afraid of much. My concern is mostly due to the fact of not wanting to infect others and causing them harm more than my own personal well being. I firmly believe if everyone would consider how getting themselves infected can bring danger to others and they actually cared about others, then we wouldn't have these individuals that only think about themselves and make these stupid f'ing proclamations about the government isn't going to stop them with an action they want to perform.

I’m still getting paid, I have a big home, a big yard, and the expanse of the Chesapeake for a view. Not too mention a 1/4 side of beef, a large deep freezer full of food and a ton of canned stuff from my in-laws. I can ride this out for 6 months if need be.

I’m not doing what I’m told, I’m doing what’s prudent because there has been very little disruption in my life. Not everyone is as fortunate as you and I. Your wife is still working. Just like Bru. We are fairly insulated from the affects of this.
What part of the bay do you live in? We go down there a few times a year to hunt and fish. Usually fish out of Tilghman Island and hunt of the Choptank (sp?) around the Jamican Point Road area.

I wouldn't know, I don't drink. All I know is that my life has been altered (maybe forever) because 1% death rate (or lower).

At least you still have a life. Many innocent souls do not. Do what you can to keep that number at a minimum

Do you say the same when they die of heart failure? Flu? Diabetes? Hey, I'm sympathetic to those that lost loved ones. And it could hit my family, but living out of "fear" of something that we have no means to fight right now is ridiculous. If you are old, sick, bad immune system...then stay home....stay secluded.

North Bay, above the bridge. This time of year, I’m usually have my boat down near Pax River though. The trophy bite is better down there. This time of year, I’ll head up from Pax and fish the mouth of the Chop, sometimes.

Summertime bite is better up here though. Down closer and in Va, you have a much more diverse summertime bite though. You’ll get cobia, bluefish, Spanish mac, red and black drum, etc. Up here, it’s mostly just rockfish and crabs. Couple of blues and Spanish make it up here as well.

You only think it’s stupid because you’re a kept and scared little sheep. You actually need protection and people to protect you. I get it, you’re weak. It’s cool.

I guess that’s where we differ at a key point - my mind isn’t even thinking “maybe forever”. But I’m not discounting that thought, I’m just not there yet myself.

Enough it enough. It's time. Open things back up. Roll the dice.

If news of this "virus" never got out, how many would account their symptoms as "seasonal allergies" or a cold? Maybe the flu? Then we start seeing death rates go up and think "wow, this is a bad flu season". The elderly extremely affected by dying of pneumonia. Of which we all would say "they lived a good life".

My point, albeit very callous (I agree), we are living in fear of something that would be looked at as "normal" if the stories we are being reported about daily wouldn't be about DEATH DEATH DEATH, when a VERY small amount of people are dying.

As I've stated, it's not like I'm young and not like I don't have elderly parents and a wife that is diabetic. There are risks. But folks, you can't stop viruses. They will find a way.

Is SARS cured? What about MERS? West Nile? Ebola? Flesh eating bacteria in lakes and waterways? Have they stopped boating and swimming in these waterways until they get rid of the bacteria? Nope. It's called "enter at your own risk".

Ok, now you may blast me.
You are 100% correct. The destruction of healthy lives are going to dwarf the deaths of the few. And I'm 65. My mom is 89 and not healthy at all. We need to expose as many as possible for herd immunity. That's why there's no vaccine for the other contagions.

14,000 die everyday from lung cancer due to cigarettes. 180 die every day from drug overdose. Do we quarantine cigarettes and build a wall and force everything thru a few ports of entry?

Rented a home in Cambridge this past December while hunting in Trappe. Interesting little town. I wasn't aware of the history until got there and started reading about the town. Some folks still stuck in the '50s down there...and that could be 1850's or 1950's.

I've had many arguments about this same thing. And people always try to rebut this by saying "those aren't contagious". And they are 100% true (Hell, I've said the same thing to ATL just to make a point). HOWEVER, drug abusers are prone to HIV and Hep. Of which, they can easily spread those diseases to others without anyone knowing (ex. preparing food, construction cuts and scrapes, etc.). Do we live in fear for that? Nope.

A story this morning I read said doctors are alerting smokers and those who drink excessively that they are at a high risk for COVID-19. Then why are we still selling cigarettes and having liquor stores open then? Yet we shut boating ramps and golf courses down. WTF!

And we don't know anything about this virus other than people got scared and reacted out of fear. If it was like polio or the measles or MERS, then I say we did the right thing. If it is acting like it is now and causing mild symptoms with upper respiratory problems, then we have overreacted.

EDIT: By the way, MERS kills 35% of the people who get it and please remind me how we restricted travel to/from the Middle East....

It takes down healthy people in their 30’s and 40’s too. It spreads incredibly fast, and without any real clear signs.

We know that few healthy people die from this. The stats show that a healthy male has a greater chance to die from breast cancer than this. Do you stop everything and have men go get breast mammograms? No. I honestly believe that some of you have never experienced anything other than cell phone breaking down. I've been in Hepatitis protocol twice in the last 4 years from sticks at the regional jail( which everybody has to work at and not get to stay home). Slowly exposing the population to this only prolongs it. The hospitals are laying people off cause there's nobody in them. Be prudent if you aren't healthy but time to get back to work May 1.

Not even close to being valid. His stats and logic is always WAY off. Simply is amazing.
520 men will die this year from breast cancer. It's 1 out of 833 in the general pop who will get it which is a .1% chance. What's the healthy men's rate in covid? Not a lot different.
