Inconsistency. Getting beat the same way routinely. Losing momentum every time it feels like you have some. Losing very winnable games. Lacking the likeability of the previous two Jans teams.

The one key difference is we did enough from November to early January to make the tournament whereas Howland would’ve had this group in the NIT.

Just difficult to feel some of the optimism with this group that you felt with Jans’ first two teams.

So you're saying our best shot at post season success is an NIT bid ...good deal!

This is a Jans team dressed as a Jans team. When we play defense we win. This team can't consistently play defense.

I don’t care how good the SEC is, a losing record at home is a flawed team.

A good team with an identity finds a way to go 3-0 in these games:
-South Carolina
-LSU
-Texas

We went 2-1.

And at least 3-3 in these games:
-Kentucky
-Ole Miss
-Alabama
-Missouri
-Florida
-Texas A&M

We went 2-4.

We should be 10-7 at worst. Or 9-8 if you want to trade the Ole Miss road win for a home loss.

@ Arkansas should have been a free shot. Now we’re playing to not play on Wednesday against another desperate team.

We are at a different level than Howland every had us but I kind of agree with you in that this season we have consistently played below our capability. In Jan's first two seasons the opposite was true and we over achieved. Watching an overachieving team with less talent is much more enjoyable than watching a talented one underachieve even if the latter wins more games.

If I'm not mistaken, we were favored in every single home conference game, but ended up 4-5 in those games. The Hump just isn't intimidating as it used to be once the students got moved.
