This is how I want our DC's scheme described.

The Washington Post described Brown's scheme as "organized chaos" and "blitzing nearly 85 percent of the time."[SUP][9][/SUP] Highly touted junior safety Kenny Tate emerged as a playmaker, and Brown praised his play at "virtually every position on the field" as "unbelievable".[SUP][10][/SUP] Brown was credited with preparing the team well for the 2010 Military Bowl, where Maryland beat the 12th-ranked offense of East Carolina, 51–20.[SUP][11][/SUP] After the season, head coach Ralph Friedgen was fired, and Brown stated a desire to remain at Maryland on the next coaching staff.

Like many have said before, and I see it this way, too... the goal of good defense is not how much you blitz... if you remember Manny's defense, we blitzed A LOT, but still gave up a lot of mid-yardage plays and gave up a good many third down conversions. Our defense did not become effective until we got in the red zone, forcing many teams to field goals.

Good defense is built on the ability to be disruptive and cause offenses to do something other than what they wanted to do. That creates pressure and pressure leads to mistakes. Getting in the offensive backfield is KEY for any good defense, and there are ways to do that without blitzing. Until we have that, simply blitzing more will not help as much as you think it will.

I just want a defense whose stated goal is to force the other team to go three-and-out whenever possible. Enough of this bend-but-don't-break ****.
