No, it's all on the players. Forget that Iowa doesn't recruit worth a ****....we need to wait until Riley gets his guys, then 30 point losses to average teams will only be 14 point losses. Don't ya know tom sucked *** too? Also, forget that people used that "tom 9 games" excuse for Bo, but we were ok with holding him accountable for blowout losses. I forget the rules around here sometimes. Maybe that asshat Archie will be around shortly to remind me.
Ok. I remember hearing that before. good luck

If years 4-7 Riley continues to have multiple blowout losses then he will be held accountable just like Pelini.

I don't remember Pelini being held accountable or criticized much his first 3 years after blowout losses.

Until we start winning at line of scrimmage expect these games to occur. understand denial is hard to get through but let's face it we are not a premier program. Bruce Reed has to go plain and simple
What about the OC? The offense has been worse than the D by far.

Agree on Reed. Line coaches need to disappear, just like their players against decent teams

Because Pelini didn't already have a mediocre .500 record of 20 years as a head coach. Not hard to figure out.
Should that matter? You should be allowed at least 3 years with minimal criticism for seasons like this and any of Bo's first 3 seasons.

Starting year 4 and definitely year 7 if problems like today's game continue then bring out the pitchforks.

Line of scrimmage means defense and offense, every game is different but our defense just admit did not show up today. blown up assignments were obvious

I find it interesting that little attention is being paid to the way Armstrong played yesterday. While hurt he failed to progress through the reads when throwing the ball

Perhaps one of the worst games I can remember from that point. Too many deep balls without looking at the other receivers , which were open in many cases by the way.

2 or 3 of those deep throws the WR was open. Tommy just overthrew them.

But I know what you're saying and I agree in that the other 3-4 deep balls where the WR wasn't open he had another WR who got free that he didn't even look for.

Tough loss yesterday. I'm happy that we've had a decent season with a chance to win 10. It's a nice improvement over last year where Riley had to deal with winning over a lot of Bo devotees. Some never came around. He held it together and we could see the ship turning. That said, there's a lot of work still to be done.

The roster has holes from horrible roster management and that will take 3 to 4 years to fix. I just can't get over 3 walk-ons starting on the line for the majority of the season. They played hard, but they are not talented players. I don't think JUCO's are the answer either. I've seen many JUCO's waste roster space and never contribute. Some seem to think they're a sure thing. For every Lavonte David there are 10 Rodney Picou's and Brock Pasteur's.

Tommy is who we think he is. We all respect what a warrior he is. He has heart and toughness and he's had some magic. BUT, 5 years in and he still can't read defenses very well and he consistently fails to set his feet and align his shoulders properly resulting in overthrows, balls behind, in the dirt, in the chest of the defender [gulp]. Guys are running open and he continues to throw bombs on 3rd and short. What kind of decision making is that. Without his ability to extend plays with his legs, he's not a DI quarterback and I don't care about the records. They mean nothing without trophies. Iowa forced the point and proved that he's not a pocket passer. His play is reminiscent of the playground. When I talk to people, we agree that we're ready to move on. Bottom line is, we didn't have anyone better to challenge him. Not even the plucky walk on.

Special Teams. WTH? I give it a solid C- with the exception of Drew Brown. He's getting better and I doubt it has anything to do with Read. Read has to go. He's been doing this long enough. We have no need for a highly paid below average coach. Cut him loose. Punting is terrible. I'm done with the excuses. If you put a punter on scholarship, he needs to perform better. Not perfectly, but not this poorly. We paid a heavy price for poor field position.

Recruiting has to get better. Top 15 minimum. Move non contributors off scholarship if you can. We're all dazzled by 5 star receivers landing in Lincoln on private air planes. In truth, we need to build this sucker from the ground up. You cannot play high level football while getting pushed around at the line of scrimmage.

Discipline and toughness are lacking. Who's the guy that's instilling some nastiness in this team? It's ain't Riley. He's like Tom in that aspect and that's fine. It has to be a lieutenant. Who are the assistants challenging these guys? Enough with the hopping up and waving first down to the delight of the crowd? That is amateurish, especially in light of the overall beat down you're taking. I'd rather see pancakes and helping our opponent up after mauling them.

Will Riley return us to the top of the conference? I hope so, but I honestly don't think so. He can win the press conference, but I don't think he has the killer instinct. I believe we'll peak at 9 wins a year, lose to the better teams and he'll awshucks his way out of here in 3-4 years with a fat nest egg.
