Code of Alabama, Section 32-6-67.
Furthermore, I've written all of my legislators asking that they revise the law to allow out of state colleges, with proceeds from the sales going to K-12 education funds in the counties of registration as a means to generate funds during difficult economic times. I stated that this was similar to neighboring states disbursement of out of state colleges tags (including Alabama and Auburn)in
Georgia,
Tennessee, and
Mississippi. I noted that Georgia has
considered legislation that would not allow Alabama universities in Georgia as Alabama doesn'tallow Georgia university tags.
I've asked to have the Mississippi State Alumni Association recognized as a private entity, thereby sidestepping the law, once again with proceeds going toward education.
In light of the recent budget cuts, you would have thought this would make sense.
I sent this to my representative, my senator, and the Governor's office. I did not receive a single response from any of them. Not even a "thanks for your letter, we'll take it under advisement."
This only furthers my belief that the majority of state governments, especially Alabama, are comprised of functional morons.
