This just in. Fitts is a different pitcher with a LEAD.

If Wes doesn't whiff on the ball last inning, Trevor working on a shutout.

Yep. That run wasn't on him either. Collins blocked it up too high and away from runner.

Lot easier to be good when you are allowed to stay in the game. If the first inning had happened in the 3rd he would have been yanked.

Errors happen to everybody. If there's an area where I won't criticize Rea, it's his defense.

2 games with 2 errors this week. Normally Wes is solid, but he hasn't been this week. When you have a team that relies on defense, errors are a big deal

Wes really hasn't been great defensively this season, period. That's the main thing that's surprising to me. I honestly don't care what he hits if he's stellar on the field, but I was okay with benching him last week because his glove hasn't been great.

If/when he gets back on, I'm again happy with whatever he does at the plate. He can be that valuable on the field.

People talk about us getting hot this time last year. It's the same time we introduced Fitts to our lineup. Him throwing well is just as important as Wes getting it together.

It should. But it also should have been back by now. It's not like pitching- it's just defense. A lot of it begins with good positioning, and sometimes I've noticed he's been out of place to begin with.

We'll see. I love Rea- he saved us a lot last year with his D. When he's on top of his game, I think he's one of the top few defensive players at his position. Bat's a plus when he plays good defense. If he's not stellar in the field.... he better be packing a good bat.

I don't know why Fitts is so reluctant to throw his breaking ball early in the game, especially considering that he hardly ever goes more than 4-5 innings. There's no need to save your best stuff for later. I don't think he threw the breaking ball until the bases were loaded. He looked like a different pitcher then. If for no other reason, he needs to throw it in the first inning just to show that he will. I imagine the scouting report on him says to jump on him early before he starts throwning the breaking balls.
