The MS line can't pick them up, and they are extremely fast to the ball. Ragland is going to be an absolute monster by the time he's done at Alabama. And Alford has not looked good today. His passes have been off the mark,but he has someone in the backfield on every play. Alabama team is clearly the better team.
Someone said earlier with Favre transferring we need to sign either Alford or Mays. I'd take Mays in a heartbeat over Alford, and that's even without the threat of baseball. Alford's strong and a good athlete, but he doesn't look that fast to me and his passing is way too inaccurate. He was under 50% this season for Petal. Mays is a much more explosive player and a better passer.
But under 50% on the season is not good, and you are seeing that right now. Missed that comeback route on the roll out to the right by 5 yards.Sailed that out route pretty badly to the left side. There's clearly talent, but with his baseball possibility and what I've seen so far, I'm with you, I would go after Mays. And now that Favre is gone, we need a QB that would stay at least 4 years, and I would bet a ton of money Alford doesn't play college football more than 2 years.
No loyalty to really any one school there. It's like two Jackson-type areas, with probably more athletes. Southern Miss has lived off these guys for years. Obviously, Bama and Auburn will get the 4 and 5 stars but there are plenty to go around.
