it never fails. Every year I pick against them and every year they slowly knock out every team that I have picked. Maybe I will reverse the jinx another year

No reason his guys shouldn't know that if the second free throw is missed, to just let Butler sling it from 90'. Never, ever should they have come close to fouling in that situation.

...continues to grow. They have ruined so many different teams' seasons, eventually they are going to be the most hated program in America.

The most overrated team in the last several years. You can usually bet than either an underdog or a Big Ten school will take them down within the first two rounds.

did the Pitt guy miss 2 of 3 free throws? I saw him make one and miss the last one but from where he got fouled I assume he got a 3rd free throw before that that I didn't see. Is that correct? I knew Pitt was down only one when he went to the line.

so he had two shots. Made the first, missed the second. Pitt guy fouled on the rebound. And by "Pitt guy" I mean "the dumbest 17'er on earth".

I guess after the MSU-KY game I'm conditioned to think anything looking like starting a shot attempt will get you 3 free throws at the end of a half.

At about the 1:05 mark I put a frozen chicken pot pie in the microwave that recommends 13 minutes of nuking. I managed to cook it before the last minute of the game could complete.

I mean no reason his guy shouldn't know that you shouldn't foul a guy with 2 seconds left 40 feet from the basket, right?<div>
</div><div>Seriously, you are living proof that MSU has the dumbest fans in sports.

And it's nice to see the refs actually officiate at the end of a game and not put their whistles in their pockets.<div>
</div><div>So many times, they're afraid to make a call, under the excuse "I don't want to decide the game." Well, if a foul occurs, the only way you're going to help decide the game is by NOT calling it a foul. Just be consistent.</div>

But apparently you can usually bet that an underdog or big10 school will take them down within the first 2 rounds??

That just doest seem to jive with the fact that they have made the Sweet 16 50% of the time in the last decade.
Oh, and WTF are you including the entire big10 in this for? As if it's a shame in the last decade to be taken down by Wisconsin, Perdue, Ohio State, or Michigan State?? You mention that conference with underdogs like the conference is terrible and Pitt should feel disgrace just for losing to any big10 team.

Yep, Pitt is just a terrible team and overrated for making 5 Sweet 16s in the last 10 years.

Eat a 17ing dick.

And for the record, no, Dixon shouldn't be fire for that game. It's a figure of speech. I'd explain that concept to you, but I'm not quite sure it'd be worth my breath.

</span></font>Wow. Just wow. <div>
</div><div>So did Stevens.</div><div>
</div><div>You know what, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that both of these fine coaches at some point has at least casually mentioned to their players that they shouldn't commit dumb fouls - especially when a game is on the line. You would have no concept of that, though.</div><div>
</div><div>And isn't it convenient when somebody calls you out on your idiotic post, that all of the sudden its a figure of speech? You said in the title of your post that "Jamie Dixon should be fired". Words mean things, junior. And when you post stuff like that, people are going to assume you mean exactly what you posted.</div><div>
</div><div>Since you are destined to be a Peaches follower and post every thought that comes to your mind when it comes to your mind, you might want to take a slightly different approach before you become a complete toolshed. Think through it before you hit the enter button.</div>

Butler makes a bucket... no timeout is called... Pitt throws it to half court and is fouled by the Butler guy (dumb foul, but Butler didn't have a chance to talk this over)

After the foul, Dixon paces up and down the sideline instead of coaching his players on what they should do. Pretty simply logic if you would've watched the game. Dixon had every chance to coach his players there and tell them to not foul (or even clear the lane and put everyone at halfcourt).

And if you think I agree with coach34 on even half of the stuff he says, you're right... MSU does have the dumbest fans in the world.

Good god, son. Are you that dense? Is this stuff really that far over your head? I realize now where you are coming from. You really don't know that these coaches drill these dumb *** kids about committing dumb *** fouls. But how would you know that? You're a dumb *** kid, too.<div>
</div><div>And it really wasn't necessary to cut and paste what I said about MSU having the dumbest fans in the world. Like I said in my initial reply to you in this thread - you are living proof of that.</div><div>

The standard for basketball is that the ref lets close calls go in the last seconds of the game, so that the ref cannot decide the outcome of the game. This time frame is the most open time for crooked refs.<div>
</div><div>I want the refs to stay out of the game unless it is a moderate to heavy foul. These light fouls and bumps and falling down like soccer players make me sick.</div><div>
</div><div>That call at midcourt should not have been called. The call at the end of the game should not have been called. The only credit I give the ref is for being consistent in calling pansy meaningless fouls.</div>

In refermece to the call at mid court, he drove the Pitt player off balance and almost out of bounds and kept him from getting the ball. That was a clear foul. You can't do that. So it should be called. If it weren't called, think about what would have happened...a turnover most likely. How is that just? How is fouling someone and getting a turnover as a result be the play that should have happened?

I always love this line of thinking because it just so clearly exposes the lack of respect for rules in a game. If it is a foul 2 minutes into a game, then it is a foul 39.9 minutes into a game. A foul is a foul is a foul. And if you disagree, then you choose to play on what becomes a terribly inconsistent slope of slipperiness where human judgment takes over even more than what already exists. And when that happens, teams get screwed.

It's a foul 4 minutes into a game, but with 5 seconds left, the defending team should be able to come thisclose to raping the player and not get called for it.
Brilliant thinking.

All you have to do is reference the Big East tournament game between Rutgers and St. John's to see what happens when refs stop calling the game at the 0:02 mark. That didn't go over so well. It's a forty minute game and should be officiated thus.
