I say these things as someone who is probably one of the biggest Stans fans on this board.<div>
</div><div>This team has lost its edge. There is blame to go on this all around. Some lies with Stans, and some lies with our senior leadership. We are talented but not as talented as we believe ourselves to be. Our team has started to believe that they can go out and win games on talent alone. We aren't that good.</div><div>
</div><div>What we saw tonight was a completely lackadaisical effort on our rival's home court, but it is far from the first lackadaisical effort we have given. We haven't played with true intensity since the WVA game. We lost to Akron early, and after that we played with a chip on our shoulder until we started to get recognition. After we beat WVA our team started to believe the press clippings that we were a great team, and every game since against decent competition has been a struggle.</div><div>
</div><div>The lack of urgency is apparent. We don't block out, and it's not just Sidney. Moultrie and Hood were victimized on putbacks all night. I know this is hard to accept, because Moultrie has been untouchable on this board and Hood is the savviest savvy freshman in the history of savvy freshmens.</div><div>
</div><div>Our perimeter defense is just bad. It isn't bad because we don't have the personnel or ability. College basketball is so much about effort. That is why our guards are getting beat. After beating Arizona, A&M, and WVA, it seems like our team decided that they had arrived. Look at how the Ole Miss team treated tonight's game. It was apparently their Super Bowl. They are fully aware that the best they will be is another NIT team under Kennedy. Tonight was their chance to shine, and they did.</div><div>
</div><div>As a fan of Stans, he really needs to do something to fire up this team and restore the sense of urgency. Watch our screens. We don't set them. The ballhandler doesn't wait on the screen, and the screener doesn't actually set a screen. He leans toward the man and goes on to his next spot on the floor. We just walk through the motions. As much as it pains me to say it, watch Duke, UK, UNC, or Michigan State. They do not do this. Their movements are crisp. They wait on screens and actually set them.</div><div>
</div><div>Fortunately for us, these problems are easily addressed. Hopefully this loss will give us a little fire. There is no doubt that the coaching staff will see these things on the game film.</div><div>
</div><div>The only positive for tonight was watching the Ole Miss crowd. We have been destroying them in every major sport for the last three years. It couldn't go on forever. If any one of them ever tries to act like they don't care, point them to the video of the last five minutes of tonight's game.</div><div>
