This team will go as far as Bost will take us.

Bost needs to be more of a point guard, and less of a shooter.
A good point guard distributes the ball to his other players who can score and we have plenty of those on this team.
He needs to have a pass first mentality, not the shoot first one that he has now...
Dee thinks he makes it to the next level by shooting and he is going to keep on doing it, and Stans is not going to do anything to stop him..

If you were, this new view is quite different.

If you werent, sorry for bunching you in that group. Right now, Deville starting at PG and Bost at SG would be the worst lineup possible. The amount of turnovers would set records and on the rare time when the ball wasnt turned over and got into Bost's hands, he would miss the shot.

Less shooting for Bost, more distribution to Hood. It's starting to look like Hood can shoot well from the outside and it's very obvious he's our best option at penetrating (with control) and scoring. You get teams respecting Hood more, then it opens up Moultrie and Sidney to do their thing around the basket.

Deville is not ready at the point and Bost is surley not a SG right now.
Bost might be a better shooter if he didn't have to expend so much energy bringing the ball up the floor, but I don't think Deville could do that right now.
We have to play with who we have on the team, and right now Bost needs to be the PG, and not necessarily a shooting PG.

He's really the only decent outside shooter we have on the roster.

I agree with him.

What we are doing at present is not working. We can all agree on that.

He suggests Stansbury tell Dee to stop shooting and distribute the ball to our big men. I look back at Stansbury's history of telling a Sr. like Jamont(think he was actually a Jr) or Dee to do something other than create and shoot.Dee stares off into the distance ignoring Stansbury. Do you thinkDeeis actually going to change what he is doing? Dee either finds his shot or he doesn't.

Maybe, just maybeputting him at the 2 would take some pressure off him and allowhim to find his shot. Deville is aturnover machine, yes, but he does a good job of breaking down the opposition's zone and he naturally looks to get the ball to our big guys. Dee doesn't do either of those well. Because I doubtStansbury can influence Dee's play, I suggest playing Deville at the1 and living with the turnovers as best as possible. It may be a bad plan, but it is a reasonable alternative.

What would you have us do?

Hood is playing like a freshman now that we are in SEC play and so is Deville.

I am most concerned with our post defense. Sid is horrible at it and Moultrie is sketchy at times too. Stansbury teams live and die not by the three, but by their defense and this bunch is inconsistent so far.

If Bost wll focus on his assists and defense for a couple of games I think his shot will come back. He is pressing way to much.

I know the in thing is to blame Stan for a loss but last night was definitely an all around team loss. The entire group played like crap. I know it is the coaches job to prepare them but last night they looked so lost that I have to give that one to the players... and I think if you asked them, they would say the same.

It's early in league play, thank God. We still have time to iron the kinks out. Last night needs to be our last wake up call to get our act together.

In retrospect, I was there at almost every game in 96 and we did not come together as a team till mid February. This team has that potential, we will see if it goes North or South.

..Bost forfeited his leadership role with this team when he talked **** to OM then couldn't back it up.

That's not the sign of a leader.

That's the sign of a douchebag.

I don't know who the new leader of this team will be, but after the ensuing Vanderbilt beatdown, the era for paying homage to clowns kings will be ended.

Yeah, we all get what he posted, it was pretty clear. No hieroglyphics or anything, but thanks for translating.

I would have us learn how to establish position on the block against man defense and also teach the perimeter players how to properly pass into the post since it is quite obvious neither is done consistently, if ever.
I would also have us learn how to run a high post in zone, or if we know how(i would assume so), i would have them remember to do it when playing.
I would also point out how not blocking out on defense directly leads to posterized dunks on putbacks and demand players who are willing to buy into what should be a very basic fundamental.

And sure, i would love to see Bost shoot less from deep right now. His shots were wasted trips down the court and jacking a 3 in transition without anyone around to rebound is essentially a turnover. I am all for him penetrating though. He passes off well or gets to the line when that happens and good things come from him doing either.

I appreciate where you are coming from too.

To summarize:

1. You ask for some relatively fundamental coaching.

2. I would like for Stansbury to regulate Bost's game while he is shooting so poorly.

3. Because I am sure that neither of these two things will happen, I would like to see Smith get some good minutes because (when he is not turning the ball over) the offense functions pretty efficiently.

4. Both of us know thatStansbury is not likely to playSmith, at all.......so that leaves us both simply hoping that our 3's start falling, Hood grows up mid-season,and somehow Sid&Moultrie can get some nice putbacks.

We always struggle early in the SEC schedule prior toStansswitching from the 3 men out 2 men in, to the 4 men out 1 man inoffensive set (Read Lewis getting a lot fewer minutes in the coming games). However, there is no movement in either of these so it makes it difficult to get anything done offensively regardless of strategy.

with Bost. I'd have him drive to the hole every single play till he gets out of his funk or fouls out. He should have 30 shots vs Vandy and 15+ assists. Force him out of this **** funk he's in. He has to play top 5 PG basketball for us to have a very successful year. He can take almost anyone off the dribble and with Sidney and Moultrie crashing in from the wings and Steele and Hood camping the 3-point area Bost should have ample opportunity for easy assists or points at the foul line. He starts making the easier shots his 3 point shot will be wide open and he will start making that as well.

Dee will keep shooting all he wants and we better pray he gets hot or our season is all but over. What you said makes too much sense...
