The first week of district play brought an electric atmosphere and pure excitement. The bar is set very high for week #2, and the schedule is full of great games. LCA and JF will keep the scoreboard operator busy all night. As always, anything can happen in the Seminole.
EC Glass (4-0, 1-0) at Brookville (3-1, 0-1)
The Bees are looking to rebound after last week. Amherst was able to contain the high powered offense, and this week they face a vaunted Glass defense. Stinger stadium is a very tough place to play and Brookville will try to use the home field to their advantage.
Hilltoppers captured the Jug last Friday at City Stadium, and are bringing their undefeated record. Jadan Merriman is proving to be a force upfront for a defense that is allowing 18 points per game, with a lot of those coming when the game is in hand. Jeff Woody arrived at EC Glass in 2015 and took over a team that was 3-7 the year before and last had a winning record in 2005. Everything has changed and now he looks to win at a place that holds a lot of fond memories.
LCA (2-2, 1-0) at JF (2-2, 1-0)
Bulldogs- LCA can light up the scoreboard in a hurry. The passing offense was on display last week at Williams Stadium as Rylann Stamm gashed the Rustburg defense all night. The Bulldogs will be playing their first Seminole road game this week, and are hoping to add to their district win column.
Cavaliers- With O’Donnell back under center the offense is in full throttle mode. They have added a tremendous passing attack to the arsenal. The offense is averaging 40 points per game and the special teams proved last week that they can turn the game in a blink of an eye.
Amherst (2-2, 1-0) at Rustburg (2-2, 0-1)
Lancers- Frank Ross was in full effect last week, and will look to add to his rushing total again this week. Without question Amherst has played the toughest four games of anyone. Their opponents combined record to this point is 11-4.
Red Devils- The defense had issues last week containing a vaunted LCA offense. This group is working hard, but the inexperience is a tough hill to climb. Rustburg returns home after three straight road games and are looking to change things up a little. Grayson Harvey made two tremendous touchdown catches last week.
Liberty (2-2, 0-1) at Heritage (3-1, 0-1)
Minutemen- Special teams hurt the Bedford bunch last week. Allowing big returns for touchdowns put Liberty in a bind early. After an explosive start they are in a tough stretch of games.
Pioneers- The high powered offense was held down last week, but they are still averaging 39 points per game. They come into this game with a renewed fire and passion, and will feature a steady dose of Elijah Davis.
