Your wish has come true. The Pirates declined his option today. Maholm knew it was coming after he got hurt this year. The Pirates bought him out for $750k instead of paying him about $10M next year. He had a pretty good year going relative to the rest of his career before he got hurt. Hope he finds a nice new home very soon.

And if I can decipher Buster Olney's tweets properly, it appears that Atlanta has dealt Derek Lowe to Cleveland and will be paying $10 million of his salary and is only getting a second-tier prospect in return (read: salary dump).
